I'm hoping the NW SR prediction is wrong because it currently suggests we are too far East for any storm activity later this PM. Even the Arpege model suggests major rainfall goes to the west over Cornwall & Devon.

You could get lucky, looking at the radar and out the high tech window this first band is coming your way, it's east of me

Dorsetbred and Mapantz

I was just looking at the ;latest lightning radar and it looks like the two of you might be well placed for the cluster currently working their way up from Brittany - I might be a shade too far west for the most intense activity. My fault as I slept right through what was apparently a humdinger the night before last (we have a litter of week old puppies and I am still trying tp recapture lost sleep!)

I knew I slept soundly but perhaps not that soundly.

It will be interesting to see just where the owernight pulse heads, they seem often to sheer off eastwards up the channel or northwards towards Bristol Channel when the earlier drift suggests N to NNE drift.

Been pleasant and sunny for last few hours and 19c.

19.5c at 11:30am, light 4mph SE wind, 1017.9 hPa, humidy dropped from 90% early morning to 70% now.
Just gone dark here, looking like the rain band is just about to hit us.

The lighting detector has now gone very quiet!, does anyone think it might pick up again?

Heavy rain here now. Looked more threatening as it approached than what ifs delivered.

Looking at the rain radar the brighter echoes  (purples and reds) has all but disappeared, hoping it picks up a bit

I was expecting more from this.

Here's the radar echoes every 20 mins

as I said it looks to have died off as it's come ashore

BBC are not helping their cause by not updating their website graphics since yesterday evening. This shows no rain over the UK at 7pm tomorrow, which is in contrast to the 7:30pm forecast which has rain arriving here by 2pm. However, having checked Hi-Res models, this is an outlier scenario:

Arome - 6pm

Arpege - 4pm

NMM - 1am

Euro 4 - 8pm

All of these models have 'nowcasts' that currently grossly underplay the extent and intensity of the current rain band moving up from the South:

I think that with the exception of a few places the rain will fizzle .

Sunny intervals here , feels humid air temp ( I think the sun has shone on the outside sensor directly ) 33C .

Time will tell.

Moderate rain here and it feels muggy, heard a distant rumble about 25 minutes ago but nothing else going on. Just dull sky.

That fresh rain on dry earth petrichor smell is lovely though.

Seems like I had more rain than some from that at 2.8mm. Dry now and getting brighter.

Rain? What rain?  About half an hour ago there were a few spits and spots, now it's stopped.  Showing the lightest of blue on the radar but nothing is reaching the ground.
