That was absolutely nuts! Best show for 12 years for me. Incredible +CG hit close by, I genuinely thought my anemometer had been hit.

And it looks as though something else could be heading this way.

Pressure and temperature both risen as the front goes by. No measured rainfall, and it looks to have gone over us now.

Well I haven't even tried to go to sleep so far tonight. No point me trying to now with that lot approaching. Just noticed the temperatures suddenly risen to 18.1°C.

Bursts of heavy rain here in Poole, can't believe I've got lucky again with a storm visiting the folks!! Think I saw that one CG towards the Purbecks too.

1.4mm fell in under one minute. 2.8mm in two minutes, and 3.8mm in three minutes. 145.8mm/hr rain rate.

Note the pressure rise moments before it kicked off? Then dropped..

Watching this is mesmerising! And radar shows the area expanding which suggests why I can see lightning further away as well as along the leading edge.

Looks like a blob of very heavy rain could be heading straight for me.

Woke up to see almost continuous flashes to my SW, mesmerising. Slowly drawing closer, even if it's a near miss here it's still a great light show. :)

Interesting how localized it is. We watched the intense area pass over you, and we have picked up a mere 0.3mm of rainfall. Won't say it "missed" us but the active area seemed to be around us.

Very interesting indeed. Something I have noted in the years of owning Davis' stations, I have recorded above 200 mm/hr rates before, but to me, it seemed too high. The rain rate I recorded about 30 minutes ago, matches what the radar showed, pretty much bang on. Perhaps newer models have fixed an issue that they had?

Rain stopped now but  what a bloody lightning show, flashes  nearly every second or two!

No disrespect to your setup, but a sensor for rain/depth/time has got to be pretty tricky. I've often wondered how accurate these off the shelf stations could be.

First rumble just heard here. :)

Very frequent lightning for the past 50 minutes in Southampton.  No thunder yet.  Blitzortung app shows strikes edging slowly towards us.
