Maybe the newspaper folk are onto something, latest GFS has a small snowstorm for many parts of Scotland around Xmas and Boxing Day:

Edit: charts look ok after all...can I start ramping yet?

Edit2: for parts of the north that snow is still going at +384hrs!!!!!

That would be mongooseing right - I'm back home in NI for Christmas :wallbash:

Snowing in Falkirk :cold:. Not heavily but proper flakes.

It makes up for the embarrassing black ice slip, glide, splat that I demonstrated in Aldi car park earlier.

Aye well, note the distinct lack of pink over Skye. Just the norm I'm afraid. :wallbash:

Hey, wait a minute, you’ve had a snowfall Misty, that’s quite enough for one winter! :D

Meanwhile some of us (i.e. me) are still waiting on what would be only their second snowfall since 2010.

No snow but very slippy pavements in Broughty Ferry this evening.

That 12z GFS is quite a turnaround from this morning, I was going to suggest it might be quiet in here next week but not if charts like that keep getting churned out!

Ah now, sorry Hawesy, but that wee flurry we had at the weekend was a bit of a rarity and I was so surprised when the forecast actually turned out to be true! I now expect to see the white stuff whenever it's forecast. ( who laughed, c'mon, who laughed? ) A girl can dream!

That was an interesting run home from Greenock. Rain, sleet, snow, freezing rain and lightning out to the east. Roads an ice rink. A few cars off the Kilmacolm to Lochwinnoch Road. The winter tyres justified themselves tonight!

Home to find a dusting of snow with some beefy looking showers incoming.

It's better than that. I'm an expert at reading charts (ahem) and it seems we'll get at least 300cm of snow west of Inverness. :yahoo:

What? Oh....

I saw that lightning coming in from the east towards Newton Mearns from East Kilbride . Snow covered streets at the top end of Mearns.

Just came up the M74 which was fun... All  3 lanes covered and very heavy snow just south of abingdon. Winter tyres performed really well yet again.

I am about 10 minutes drive from East Kilbride and all I got was a five minute sleet shower! Clear skies overhead now - swear there is a snow curse in this area.

The snow has been going North and South of me for days! All I have had is hard frosts and sunshine.

Rain here tomorrow, couple of dry chilly days thereafter and then double digits by Tuesday!

Considering a climb up a Munro this weekend just to see some snow! Desperate times for me and it is only 13 days into Winter. ???

Showers missing me to the south! To be expected really given the setup. One brief flurry earlier but the pavements and roads are lethal after the earlier rainy pish.
