Lovely snowy pics there! Lowest temp overnight Saturday into Sunday was -2.9c and a fresh day yesterday. Not too bad out doggie walking with friend, just a wee bit nippy aboot the ears! A wee bit blustery this morning temp around 5.3c. Milder murk later on in the week, so back to normal Skye winter!

Minus 5 here and a beautiful morning, I'm watching all the vapour trails in the sky and comparing them with Flightracker. Yea that's how bored I am lol. I haven't poked my whiskers ootside the door for weeks, I really need to force myself to take a wee walk today, feeling very peelywally.

Another gorgeous start to another gorgeous winter's day :)

I know some folk are pulling their hair out at the lack of lowland snow but I've really enjoyed the cold this year (so far). We've certainly missed out on the snow here in Fife because of those pesky northerlies but aside from the grey room of the past week, the sunshine and frozen waterfalls have more than compensated. The last few years we just haven't had frozen ground here in the Lomonds but it's felt like the norm rather than the exception for a change. I cant' remember the last time I went to Kinross Sainsburys and DIDN'T almost fall over cos of the ice! Hope it continues......but I hope all you folk pining for the white stuff get some too :)

Well spotted ??

See this morning that -15C reported from Amulree. Not sure if that is from a regulated site but if so I think that is the lowest temp of the Winter so far.

Dreaded first morning back blues were soothed by a beautiful sunrise over Inverness, which lit glen affric to the west. -7 and locked solid at the house as I left. Love winter for mornings like this one

Dropped to -3C both last night and the night before here - our salty hot water bottle keeping us warm again.  We just scraped an ice day yesterday, which was fine as we were on firewood duty all day.

Overnight temperature eventually bottomed out at -10.5C. Headed out for a wee drive round and about this morning and took a few snaps. Cracking wintry day.

Some wonderful photos have been posted recently - been out of action myself recently so they're great to see. Keep 'em coming!

Wind dropped out to nothing this morning so made it a great day to handle all calves for cutting and dehorning along with dosing with trace elements. Ground frozen hard and farm road dusty.Amazing after so much water.

I wouldn’t be surprised. When I got back to the car at 5pm after my walk it was saying -9C even then!

Great photos buddy especially first one with how clear the moon is showing up.

Where these photos captured on a camera or just with phone?

Flat calm and Baltic here. Actually, it's above freezing for the first time since Saturday afternoon. 1C.

Morning all! A brisk, fresh day yesterday with temp topping out at 6.2c although the wind made it feel decidedly nippy! Another lovely morning here, clear skies and light winds so may well be on wood burner duties followed by a walk!

A dull, grey, damp 5C. Rather uninspiring but better than 10C and pouring rain.

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
