Whiteout here, not deep but everything white. Tonight’s drive home at 2am to Barrhead will be tricky!

Some very very heavy stuff now, half an inch just accumulated in 10 minutes, one of the heaviest bursts of snow I've ever seen. Tried to capture it on video but it just doesn't do it justice at all.

Attempted video below

After a few failed, sleety shower attempts, the latest one has turned everything white in Moffat. The Met Office's take and timings for here have been exemplary and even a cynic like me will go to sleep happier that tomorrow's uppers will be low enough for the main event :)

Got up for tea and asprin and its white ootside, doesn't look deep but it's definitely even. Few cars going down the A7 at a crawl.

No not cold. Have a wee digestive Blitzen :)

Made a slice of toast.   Must be an age thing!   Got a funeral to go to today at 10am so that's probably got a lot to do with it.

I'd estimate looking from the window that we have 2-3 inches at the moment and still snowing heavy. Also a covering in Livingston I'm reliably informed. You can see the depth from the close up of the tyre tracks. I'd give it 2.5 inches, definitely a solid 2 inches anyway. Plus bearing in mind that those tyre tracks aren't right through to tarmac, so the depth  is slightly deeper than what the tracks are

Radar looking very healthy... and it's only to get better as the day goes on.

The showers are moving through in an ESE direction at the moment.

Here's another wee video of current conditions. Depth will easily be 3 inches after this very beefy shower moves through

I get the feeling that this event isn't going to disappoint, for this area certainly.

Snowing fairly heavily and settling. Everything white but cover still light. Fingers crossed for today :D

MetO going for a possible longer spell of snow later on this evening for the west.

Just on freezing and a light cover here - which means the Highlands are probably pretty buried now. Apparently Drumochter was closed last night although it now appears closed at Dalwhinnie. Lots of cams showing very snowy roads. Drive carefully chaps.

Looking back through the radar this is probably the first decent shower that we've caught here. Maybe a cm on the ground so far. Still coming down and the charts look great for later today.
