Sorry to ramp, but when a 'serious' short term mesoscale weather model suggests it's possible that wide areas might see 30-40 cm, I just can't help myself :)

Hairy Highland Coos, that suggests we could be on for over a foot of the white stuff here!

Gritters out and about: check.

Temperature falling: check. 2.3C

What absolute wibble from the MO. 

As oft said previously, the sooner we have a Scottish MO, the better. 

Amber warnings issued contemporaneously once severe conditions are already happening are basically a load of p*sh. 

And they have form for this up here.

I reckon it might get rather hectic in here over the next 24 hours? :D

If you don’t have the benefit of altitude I wouldn’t expect any snow until nearer midnight when the colder air aloft makes its presence felt. Personally I would also forget about these automated forecasts for specific locations and focus on the Met Office text forecasts, warnings, the radar and posts from the likes of @CatchMyDrift :)

I used to have a wet bulb thermometer in my garden, it was great....for those rare occasions when snow was a possibility! :D Anyway dew point also very useful because if it’s not below 0c then there’s no way the wet bulb is!

Same here, radar showing pink stuff, outside light showing what looks like motes of dust floating down. If it's snow it's not even the equivalent of drizzle. 

Starting to get nervous as have already mentally granted myself a working from home day. :nea:

So far at least it looks like the showers will track through this far! Won't get snow later without showers :D

Snowing here just now. First proper shower of the day/ eve. The ground is very wet so it is not sticking yet. Hopefully a further drop in temperature will allow the snow to settle.

Latest shower here has turned sleety - despite the 'pink' on the radar. It's a start.....

I'm about to get that one. 

Was driving home from Peebles through Drumelzier this afternoon and snow had settled already above 300m.
