Merry Xmas all - good luck for Snow if you are in the firing line. Here's hoping temps continue to drop off and more areas move from rain > snow :)

Hmm.  Knife edge stuff.  I've got Edinburgh at 15/2, so I'm keeping an eye on the traffic Scotland live cameras.  Looks like rain everywhere at present.

Just north of Dundee and it's looking highly unlikely. Fairly dry, but just a couple of degrees too warm. Sorry.

Snowing with me now, turned in the last thirty minutes. But it's a long way down the Clyde valley to GLA for the payout JS.

Merry Christmas everyone. The precipitation is starting to turn a bit wintry here in Bearsden so there's hope for the first official white Christmas in Glasgow since 2010.

Wet snow in Falkirk (very wet but more snow than sleet) Cornish mother asleep though (thank goodness she's harder work than the kids,)  so she's missed it.

I read a few years ago that the met office use their radars to confirm a White Christmas rather than having a person Sat in the wilderness at each station. Also as sleet is classed as a mix of rain and snow, sleet does make it official.

Hence Glasgow has been showing sleet since 8, Dundee very marginal however

Jeez if one out of the 2 came up it would be brilliant.

I actually had Cork where I live as well at 33-1 and believe it or not we had sleet shower here earlier...

Fingers crossed,  it was about 10 year ago I read up on it and have been lucky a few times as my Newcastle met station is quite high up in Northumberland barracks, but some bookies have wriggled out recently saying they have their own representative at points that are non met stations, which I found out last year when Coral said they had a man at Newcastle international airport, sounded dodgy to me. Avoid Coral Now as a result, Paddy always been more generous and even overturned a decision from radar screen shots I sent them a couple of years ago.

Yeah mines a pp so here's hoping.

Only placed 3 days ago but I guess the very mild weather hood winked the bookies into false sense.....

Definitely wet snow here about 10miles outside of Glasgow, at about 80 metres above sea level.  Ground is soaking wet but a technical White Christmas!

The webcam at Leadhills (400metrs above sea level) shows snow starting to lie there.
