Morning all,

Very unusually for this month it’s raining outside (prior to today Leuchars has only had 3mm of precipitation in December - hence the absence of snow in these parts!). Anyway it’s raining this morning, currently 3c.

I see GFS has a wee cold shot timed for the big day. Be interesting to see how that plays out.

Finally the ice is going, raining and well above freezing now. The white wonderland looked pretty for a few days, but I now have 2 teenagers fresh from A&E, one with a  popped hip, and the other with a broken elbow!

Predictably all the ice and frost has disappeared. Not sure about the snow on the mountains (can't see it from here) but I would assume that's more or less gone or will have done by end of today

A definite thaw on here, temp currently 4.5C but was up to 6-7C earlier. Snow disappearing but the ice is more reluctant so just spent some time outside breaking it up on the paths and driveway to help it along. Boy was that hard work in places, even with a heavy metal spade.

Temp was 10c here at 7.30am, but it did drop a bit later in the afternoon. Currently 5.4c and miserable with it. Well, wasn't winter nice while it lasted?

Sub-tropical here today. Got up to 7C, rain on and off. Pffft.

Don"t despair yet, in 50 plus years of watching the weather we are far more likely to have a green Christmas followed by a white New Year so not long to wait for winter to return. Just an aside it  seems that ice growth in the Arctic is a bit better this year possibly as a  result of the sun becoming less active  its just a matter of time before we see cooler winters. Parts of the side roads round here  are covered in black ice tonight too! at 3c.

Woke up this morning to find it's actually frosty outside, not expecting to see that again for a few days. Mentally preparing for the hideous commute along the M9 to Edinburgh. The drivers seem even more grumpy at this time of year, sigh.

My snows gone.... my beautiful snow stolen by the warmer air :help:

That can sometimes happen in Scotland when it gets milder! Someone really should have warned you :D

Still some snow on the ground here (high up, not sea level), surprised it's made it through the mild weather so far. Gradually disappearing though.

Christmas looks like it's got potential for some snow - all to do with how that lobe of low pressure sits to the north of us on the day itself but something to keep an eye on with one week to go! :cold:

Much of the concrete ice hanging on here, helped by an overnight frost. It was -2C first thing and didn't warm up as much as expected, only got up to about 3C. Just want rid of it, you can't make snowmen or snowballs out of what's left and it certainly doesn't look pretty.

Xmas Day is a real possibility for a few snowflakes:

In the meantime it was very icy today, lovely day though:

Yes and the theme continues on the 18Z, would be great to even get a wee covering in places
