That was light and patchy (had some nice d'awww snowfall which covered everything in a light sparkly coating) - it's the heavier stuff to the north over Sutherland that's caught my eye!

Not to mention the stuff out west which looks like it might be heading towards Glasgow?

Dunno if we're looking at different radars but I don't see anything other than a decaying blob heading down to Glasgow and most of the rest of the ppn looks coastal and wet :(

Moning all - currently -9.3 here in Stirling.  It's going to be a monumental effort to get the car clear today!

Coldest night for a good long while.

Overnight low of -8c here. Currently around -6c. Car will need some attention!

Charts look really marginal for later this week. Fingers crossed :)

This is about the least marginal chart I can find:

Looking like a rain to snow event for some - certainly south.

Marginal again for the South on Thursday although modest height might help. This chart screams sleety pish for me!

I've got that funny feeling we won't see deep snow cover until May bank holiday weekend again ;-)

I'm that desperate for snow that even a solitary snow symbol in a meaningless automated Met Office forecast brings joy LOL :D

Yeah we've had a few of those over the past week. Can't help laughing! Love the cold and seeing everything freezing up in the Lothians, though. Such a wonderful change to the rancid wet mildness of some of the last few Decembers. That said......we're not even halfway through the month yet so I suppose there's time for things to revert to normal.

Was a bit surprised to see temp at only -1.9c here this morning, considering it was -4c yesterday evening?   Another hard frost too.

If you're going to use automated forecasts at least tart it round a few until you find a ODW (One Day Wowzer):

Morning fellow snow freaks! So, that'll be the end of the white stuff up here then. Woke to rain, snow disappearing fast, but at least the road behind my house will be less like a skating rink. We are back to near sub tropical temper that we usually have at this time of year, 4.2c. Now we have a sleet shower, a heavy sleet shower. And yesterday was so beautiful!

Overnight min -2C, now 2C so above 0C first time since Friday. Mix of blue and grey above, changing every few mins. There were a few flakes earlier but with the slight thaw now, it's just gone. Ablation and thaw will see most of our cover go fairly quickly just here but inland there's so much depth, we're 'making our own cold', until the Atlantic decides otherwise - which appears to be Wednesday, to some extent.

@CatchMyDrift, yes, I can see skates being handy. I may get to try my snow shoes soon too.

We've gone from a beautiful sunny day to full cloud cover in an hour.

Something's brewing. GFS says dry. Euro4 says plenty of precip, possibly snow. Met-O warning says "messy mix", snow above 100-150m (I'm at 130m). Heart says 10cm of snow easy. Head says wet sleet. Everything says it's going to be so icy by tomorrow that I may be able to skate to work.

I should damn well think so. Would be about time.

The last few days have been bone dry cold hell.

Please snaw!

We were over at the in-laws a short while back and walking on paths and pavements was a challenge...roads will be terrible later. Oh well...next time maybe.

Mongoose with the alligator purse,?

My kids used to love that poem, mostly because in the pictures that went with it the "lady with the alligator purse" looked just like "Mad Granny" as they call my mum.

Much warmer here in Falkirk, 0 degrees and windscreen washers have defrosted at last. The drive into Edinburgh this morning was a bit hairy, - 6 frozen washers, salty windscreen and low sun glare. Loads of cars stopped on hard shoulder trying to clean their screens.
