Well barring a miracle the snow chances seem to have slipped well away to the south for the weekend but some very cold temps starting to be forecast for the Sunday especially. -5C forecast for here by 6pm on Sunday so I wouldn't be surprised to see it find its way down to -8c or -9c as Sunday evening goes on

A few more pictures. the farm in the distance (2nd) picture has disappeared in a blizzard several times this morning. fantastic stuff. I see slider gate is still taking over the Model Thread. I think its either going to end up in France or up North over us. if it does either of them I would expect some serious toy throwing to happen.

Heavy snow falling now. Cars starting to struggle on the flat. Epic.

Yep, the typical 'bright blazing sunshine' here, with absolutely no indication that we're going to get anything else for the next few days :(  Really is a little disappointing when most other areas have at least something.... oh well :) Just trying to stay positive and hope this isn't our only chance....

Tim

I wouldn't worry - you're not alone - most places in south and east-central Scotland haven't seen anything either.

Very happy for HC and MistyQueen though - snowfall well deserved.

Fine sunshine now but ground frost setting in, ice on any puddles and icicles hanging from north facing roofs.

Yeah, I got asked the same a long time ago. Then almost immediately we got buried in the epic Xmas 1995 snowfall and wondered whether we would get 2' of snow all winter, every winter.

Sadly not  although there's no way I'd go back south again.  The north coast beckons now, if I can persuade Ms HC (pray for me please).

Snow on again now.

Estimate of 1-2cm on the car when I cleared it earlier. That was in a spot sheltered from the wind, elsewhere depth varies from scoured to small drifts. Showers have pretty much stopped, just light flurries now.

Temp is 1.6C.

Not much more in the way of heavy snowfall since this morning, just a few graupely showers. But my, it's CAULD! Temp currently 1.8c and that's about the highest so far today. Stove doing good service in the kitchen, just chopped a load more logs so am nice and tingly! And those pics I was going to take? Camera kaput! Well, it is an antique, I bought it in 2005!:cold:

Loving the photos from down here in Essex.

Never really understood the toy-throwing IMBY thing. It's like me complaining that the butchers shop in my village doesn't sell haggis, white pudding and fresh highlands Lamb.  You don't find adventure if you don't go looking for it.

Alas, haven't been able to dodge going away south for the weekend  after all, begrudgingly bailing on what has turned out to be a cracking northerly. As NL noted, things freezing up well

IMG_5475.thumb.PNG.fa57318c2aff3a2c8ef854151e014417.PNG

Showers persistent and heavy through the day, cover hard to judge given how blowy it is but I'd say there was 20cms as I left. Looking at the forecast I'd suspect it may well reach a foot before the weekend is out, maybe the first -10c or below too, very welcome start to December indeed. Maybe the cold will embed.. Enjoy your snow if you get/have any. Great to see the Black Isle tropics getting a pasting too

3.5C to 4C now and still really blustery. Is the temp dropping quicker than expected? Also the radar seems to be more 'animated' than the ppn feels here.

@Jo Farrow - what do you mean, 'shame no radar'?

over Shetland

I had to dig my way through 2" drifts and risk frostbite to take this...

Whiteout again now, power keeps flickering, shop shelves are bare, we're all gonna freeze / starve / die of alcohol poisoning. (Got to keep up with @More Snow and @snowidea)

That's right rub it in - you rotten buggers  lol

Meanwhile up here my sole brag is that we are set for a high of zero tomorrow and minus 1 on Sunday. But not one single bloody snowflake. Wish we'd had days this good in midsummer
