Very springlike day today at 10c with a strong drying wind with the  newly ploughed field dusty on the surface. Even the birds were singing but I doubt they will be singing so much by Friday!!!! Really going to be a week of contrasting weather conditions.

Wet earlier over in Glasgow but by the time I got back to Dundee it was just spotty drizzle. Mild at 11c.

Looks wild up north tomorrow, stay safe folks!

Beyond that I can’t see any snow reaching here at least in the short term, but looks like a good weekend to get out walking (locally!).

p.s. just reached 1,000 posts. :D I’m chasing you down Catch.....

At work and no time to wade through pages of moaning in the mod thread, can anyone give a quick update on Sundays slidergate?

Not a great day for out and about on the Ardnamurchan peninsula.

It's not feeling particularly cold (9C) earlier, but there were frequent heavy and squally downpours.

My reference for the weather at the mo. (apart from net weather forecasts :)) is how loud the woods are soughing.

Trying to keep the house warm cos everyone's shouting about blizzards so burning sticks like they're going out of fashion. Erm... 13C in the yard, house is roasting hot.

Went north today, looking across the firth from the A9 and we didn't lose the pink twilight colour apart from about an hour early afternoon.

Getting windy.

It's looking likely it will be too far south to affect Scotland.

Anyway, I should see some snow here in Aviemore late tomorrow going by the forecasts :)

Be as well posting a snow accumulation chart from ECM seeing as they are being used over on the MOD. For my Fife friends we will see some of the white stuff according to the latest run :cold: Screenshot_20171206-204139.thumb.png.4ed6b991cf1946bc0ab9cb5df0713a21.png

I'd say you'll be seeing snow by mid afternoon. Won't be lying at first of course but the mercury will only be going one way. You're in for a wintry blustery day tomorrow! Enjoy man :)

Getting windy out! If my motor wasn't in danger from flying debris I'd happily see next doors neon Christmas monstrosity scattered about the road come the morning!

Hope so!

Thanks man, will take a trip up to Cairngorm if I get impatient.

Feeding the reindeer midday ish so hopeful of starting to see sleet by then given it's up a hill and we start at over 300m asl before said hill.

I have Friday here too so should be fine!

I'm sure you'll see something too my man but might be more like Friday Morning.

Praying for that slider to make it to Dumfries as March 2013 was just incredible. I've seen the legendary photos of Feb 96 too (although lived at 2/300m asl back them)

@SW Saltire the 18z GFS looks like it's proving you right...damn you. At least if I end up being wrong I may get some snow out of it, I should have said it was reverse psychology.

18z a big improvement! It'll change every 6hrs between now and Sunday though :D

Would just like to highlight that I am awaiting a new set of winter tyres from Oponeo. In the last few years this action has been sufficient to kill any snow/cold weather stone dead. However they are not due to arrive until Friday by the time they'll be fitted it will be next week.

Decided even the mid life crisis car needed winter boots this year !

Friday delivery? You'll be lucky - oh the irony of not being able to use your car because snow stopped delivery of your winter tyres!

Ive got a fair bit of altitude so expecting snow early evening Thursday. Think even sea level parts of the city as forecast heavy snow from around 7/8pm. We tend to do well from NWrlys and Northerlies. Fingers crossed and wish us luck!

'Strong gusts are likely to disrupt roads and ferries trigger localised power cuts.'

According to the Grauniad. Just trying to picture those miscreant ferries causing mayhem...

Don't mean to keep posting these charts on every run because they do inevitably change on the next run but yet again there's potential showing for Sunday for a decent portion of Scotland, especially the central belt, lothians and down towards the borders. Also being reflected in the MetO forecast for my location for the same time which can't be a bad sign across different models.

Oooph - that's a bit hairy out on the motorways.

Plenty of hairspray required today folks.

Hope everyone up North is safe and you all hang on to your roofs. It's windy enough down here in the central belt so I imagine it's "blowing a hooley" further up.
