It was a long shower. Bright and suny this morning,  reading 14C.

A decent enough weekend, mainly dry, a mix of sun and cloud, never too warm or too cold, a bit breezy yesterday.

Having said that, I climbed Mount Battock yesterday, to the West of the Banchory/Fettercairn road and it wasn't exactly warm on top in a strong wind, especially during a sharp, short shower. I cycled up Glen Dye (about 15km) to within about 4-5km of the summit then walked the rest, slowly due to recent lack of exercise. It felt much warmer down in the Glen, especially on the way back. A very remote Glen, which was deserted other than sheep and one estate vehicle that I passed. I met 3 people at the summit but other than that I didn't pass or see anyone outwith about 1km from the car park (mostly going up Clachnaben I think).

No photos unfortunately, I really should have taken some with my phone.

On the subject of phone photos...

Snap of Plockton from the edge of the hills behind it, where my daughter (featured) is on holiday with her granny.

Picture-sque even when overcast.

Brave wee soul even went in the sea for a swim; right little Katie Morag that she is.

Kids have a different concept of cold to us adults. Either last year or the year before we were at Grantown-On-Spey on a lovely warm weekend. Our youngest was in swimming in the river Spey, me, I got in up to my knees, that was as far as I could force myself.

Just read that Greenday have cancelled their gig in Glasgow due to 'weather conditions' - anyone know what's going on there?

Thanks. Was curious as it's been dry and occasionally sunny here. Thought something might be in the post without my knowing!

Dreich, damp and chilly sums it up. You really don't want to be seeing 12c and 13c max temps in early July!

14.7C in Dyce but with scattered fluffy clouds at least it's sunny. We've escaped the rain the last few days too so although it's not felt like summer it's not been awful either.

Something 'funny' going on with that Green Day concert being cancelled.

Tell you what, the southeasterners on here in the model thread  complain about their lack of cold/snow in the winter but they certainly cannot complain about their summers! It got so hot today down at the beach that we had to come off.   Got home to the cottage and walked straight into a cold shower!

Really sad that presently it is a tale of two halves weatherwise in the UK.

Probably go off with a bang tomorrow though but I find that pretty enjoyable too!

Blitzen it's really got me down, I'm so fedup and miserable with it. Waited so long for summer and when it did come the husband was ill and we never got out at all, and now this :nonono:

I was feeling that way too before we left for Kent Mardatha.   I just cannot believe the difference down here.  We come down here every year and have never had a bad summer.   They are so lucky.

It is bound to change for the better soon surely once the jet stream shifts.  it's right across the middle of the country presently and unfortunately Scotland's on the cool side of it.

Hope husband is feeling better now, mardatha, and that at least we shall get some warmish weather later.

I was down the E Lothian coast today and while the weather could not be described as High Summer, it was pleasant enough, (if you had a woolly on). :)

Some welcome sunny spells in NE Fife and Dundee this afternoon and felt okay in the sun but cool out of it with temperatures maxing out at 15/16c.

Wet morning followed by a humid dull afternoon.Countryside has the look of early August about it  tired and not fresh green green.Spring barley is even begining to ripen.Notice a lot of bracken fronds  in the woodslook stunted and sllightly brown, drought earlier? A lot of bushes and trees even holly have brown leaves too. As cloud cleared could see new aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth in the Firth. Currently 21c

Just watching the cruise liners passing the Queen Elizabeth and they just dwarf her they must be about twice the size.

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
