Chris Bell on Look East just now mentioned one or two showers popping up around lunchtime in the east from the weak cold front, then continuing warm in the afternoon (no mention of anything untoward). Main BBC forecast puts the main focus on Sunday night into Monday for the south. I believe "stormy night" was mentioned!

clear and sunny start again. In south Essex for the next few days. I can see the clouds building from the south/south west though.

Arpege going for the high twenties today, highest across East Anglia. It doesn't look like a bad day apart from a brief spell where we could get thunderstorms with clear skies both ahead and behind this band.

Hmm early days but it does look like we might avoid a lot of the action on Sunday and Monday, the payback is the temperatures remaining in the mid to high twenties on both days.

Humid here after a warm and sunny start, had a torrential downpour for about a minute but no thunder. Few spots of rain here and there now and 21C currently. Hopefully this lot will clear off sharpish and the sun will be back out.

Whoop whoop! I have thunder and lightening! And it pretty noisey!

And now rain! Yay, its been soooo long since we had a thunder storm. Love the smell of the rain! Made my day!

Hope we also get the anticipated thunder and lightening tonight through to Sunday morning.

Coming in here now, just saw a big CG flash.

Just getting the edge of this, I can see the clear skies over Basildon, looks like Southend is getting the brunt of this.

Darren Bett on BBC this morning not mentioning anything noteworthy regarding thunderstorms for our area.

Sunday late, he showed thundery showers pushing north from the south but mainly west of our region.

Meaning, drier weather and temps higher for us over the weekend.. yes please!

Almost over here now and I can see the clear skies streaming in. The temperatures should still reach the low to mid twenties behind this, areas in the north of the region, can they stay clear long enough to beat the highest temperature of the year so far.

Several flashes of lightening and really deep base thunder some rain, so pretty good, no one round can claim to be storm free.

Had half an hour of lovely warm sunshine once that front cleared. Now the grey Atlantic muck has rolled in and strong winds are blowing, yuck!! Warm though at 23C currently.

Fabulous sunny and warm start to the morning, while out dog walking before the heat, could see clouds bubbling up, and the odd rumble of thunder. Soon a decent little storm arrived overhead, but not much structure, and not overly photogenic. Very nice CG bolt seen and some other lightning, more thunder though.  Plenty of rumbles, still ongoing, some very deep and bass. Heavy rain, now on the back end of it, blue skies approaching and replacing this now damp grey murk that has followed the storm.

Absolutely cracking first storm of the year, some excellent intensification as the cf came up the E/A coast, lots of visible cg's and some huge amounts of rain through the central Ipswich belt.

Caught a glancing blow from a storm about 9ish this morning. Chucked it down for a few minutes, one flash of lighting and a rumble or two of thunder.

Now phoebes popped her head out, and it's lovely again.

Breaking up here now was fully covered over earlier.

Looking forward to some more action tomorrow night if we can pull it off, will be good!
