Evening all :)

Here in lowland East London and with the assistance of the wonderful Netweather Radar an observation or two.

There seem to be three distinct "lines" of activity - the largest and heaviest storm looks as though it will fringe west and north west London and head over the Chilterns.

A weaker band over Kent looks as though it will pass over the Thames Estuary and into Essex.

I'm more interested in the developing and at this time still fragmented middle area which has seen activity develop over Horsham and Billingshurst and the NNE drift of that might be interesting for my part of the world. That feeds back to another area of heavy and developing rain passing to the SE of Selsey Bill which again looks on course for London later on.

Yes that middle area producing some light rain here now. Damn I wanted some of that lot west of London.

I think i'm going to miss most of that storm if my radar tracker is anyway to go by. Miss it as in catch an edge.

:wallbash:

Maybe not, its quite erratic as it moves northwards.

Shame it missed us in far south east. That storm near London has incredible radar presentation.

That storm just north west of London is a thing of beauty and a rare beast for the UK. A full fledged severe thunderstorm with some classic radar returns with a well defined hook. There is going to be a report of at least a funnel cloud from that surely along with some very gusty winds. It seems it is on course to hit my location in a couple of hours as well.

Add to that the mass of scattered thunderstorms brewing in the channel as well. This could be a classic night. In fact that lot in the chanell could very well merge into a huge band of thundery rain which again could be an event we haven't seen in years with a widespread area seeing several hours of heavy rain along with lots of lightning and thunder.

22 c The storm approaches with the sound of gentle rain, big ground strikes and real thunder.
