And the clouds, their being so elevated, and hidden by glare, don't seem to tell us much, either?

PS: #CBNTWM, I been hearing thunder since about 11 am!:D

It has been pretty prolonged, hasn't it?

Indeed, Mark...It's been rumble after rumble, but they are all to the north. Unlike the first one, which was to the south!:wallbash:

Any members in the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire/Hertfordshire area who can report as to what the clouds are doing? Radar appears to show cells exploding.

It appears to be to your south.

Cauliflowers having a try around Heathrow. It is SO hot and humid with car temp showing 32 (no guarantee of accuracy there!). Trying to explain the concept of cauliflower towers to my son to see if they yield results later.

Well it certainly feels hot enough in a stuffy judo hall in Hayes (my son not me). Will be interesting to compare south west London area with NW when we get back.

Any one in the South Ockendon Essex area hearing rumbles from those dark towers going up to the south west (I think?) Or am I just imagining it? No - it is real!!! getting a bit excited, and have my thunder goose bumps. They are more reliable than any weather forecast, I find. Oh yes, more rumbles!

This was the edge of the storm to the north of us an hour ago whilst walking the woofs.

I could see that lot from here, too, BB; but, whatever you do - don't walk in the 'woofs' after dark; I used to be a werewolf but I'm all right noooooow!

Evening all :)

Heard a few rumbles here in sultry East Ham half an hour ago from the storm passing to the north - suspect very heavy rain around Waltham Abbey and Loughton.

The cloud build up was fascinating and clouds moving in different directions at different levels.

No rain here as yet and suspect we're going to miss out.

Another epic storm failure here. Not even a sniff all day. Roll on winter.

There's some storms brewing in the distance. The mother in law has just turned up crying unannounced again the crazy bat. Hopefully she gets struck on her way out. Off to the pub

We did get a brief burst of rain from the expanding Waltham Abbey storm.

Looking at the radar it seemed to spawn an area of rain to the SW of the immediate storm centre. Not sure if this will develop over East London.

Small radar returns to the SW of London - will these develop over the Greater London area ?

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
