I can't believe how things can change so quick it's worse than what  we have had all winter it's really hard to think it's actually June not January heavy rain gales what next snow lol . I know we needed the water but hopefully it will go as quickly as it came because yesterday was nice here.

This is the price we pay for having a calm high pressure dominated winter. Summer is over. Sob.

I thought today wouldn't be pleasant but wow! Just utterly awful. Had a few hours of heavy rain here which was appreciated but the max temperature so far is a disgusting 12C and that wind....ugh. Not nice to see trees down.

The strong wind that started yesterday and this heavy rain has done a fair bit of damage to my garden, some tomatoes broken, herb seedlings that were coming up nicely all squashed back down and stems broken, potatoes all knocked over, and my petunias looking all waterlogged and droopy.:nonono:

Still raining and cold too.

Just had a quick shower and holy... I've never seen a gust of wind so severe. I'm pretty sure it was in excess of 90mph. I'm surprised the shed didn't fly away! Leaves strewn around everywhere and lots of standing water. Rain was so severe it was like being in the shower.

Not sure how to describe today, but bloody awful certainly fits the bill. Amazing scenes earlier around here with felled branches, flooding and heavy rain making this afternoon's road journey very tricky. My garden rain gauge has measured 27 mm of rain today (over an inch in old money).

Here's a photo taken on the way back later this afternoon. The continuous rain had cleared to be replaced with some heavy showers. And still blowing a hoolie this evening! We were meant to get this in April not June!!

It was a shall we say an  interesting trip today to work . My trip got diverted due to trains cancelled. When I got off to wait for the bus it seemed like monsoon season it was driving rain and I kid you not there was around 10 dumped broken umbrellas at the bus stop. Anyway on the way home I dodged the showers but did get this shot of a shower and rainbow nearby . The rainbow was very low in the sky it actually surprised me .

Today has been pretty dire (rain and wind)

The same folk moaning about the rain are the same folk that moan when it doesn't rain and their pansies are looking a bit dry in their garden..and we are suddenly in the Sahara, let mass drought worries commence lol - always makes me laugh!

I've always said that any dry spell in the UK is one to cherish rather than whinge and complain it hasn't rained.

Tomorrow looks a decent day to get out and about at least before the next rain is over head come later in the day tomorrow.

Got to say today was proper horrid. And the jumping off train to get on bus to get to lewisham drenched then get a charing cross train followed by tube really did some up my journey to work. Awful. Only thankful i drove the car to station today. Driving the little one to her grump parents this afternoo  was interesting but much more so than coming homr from essex as the car was being buffeted

Well yesterday was quite a day of weather I don't think any of us were expecting a storm with that much umph to it.

Infact a station at Heathrow recored a top gust of 50mph bang on yesterday afternoon which is quite something even this far inland.

A person also lost thier life in Hampshire when a tree hit thier car, a train hit a tree a Guildford and 2 trees blocking local roads around here with numerous branches down.

Rain, I can deal with. I expect some rain it's 'summer' Rain is cosy coffee weather.

However what is it with wind these days? I certainly don't expect to be blown to school in June.

Nightmare to dress for when you've had to fish out jumper stuffs as it's quite chilly in June.

Didn't stop the shorts and flip flops yesterday. Sorry but I don't care that's it's June. I'm cold and i'm wearing boots.

We lost a tree down the road.It had fallen. Someone took a photo then nicked it. Hug dem trees.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
