Chucking it down here, been rumbling in the distance off the coast for an hour. Impressive lightning. Come closer damn you!

Anyone living in Hastings or close by is doing well. Look at Hastings live webcam. Chucking it down and frequent lightning. Also the live webcam from the pier at Brighton has some good flashes going on although much less regular. Happy viewing

Heavy rain has woken me up here, no thunder though.

Rumbling heard here in North Kent. Most active part of the system is to the eastern edge moving in a NNE direction

Pah, the whole MCS thing has been a complete train wreck for the east in recent years, we've done better with imports from the Midlands  Not holding my breath about tonight now, might see the odd popcorn storm tomorrow afternoon. Still a few months to go though.

Gutted the storms haven't reached me, was really looking forward to a night time storm.

Oh well off to bed i guess.

Good luck and enjoy the storms to those who get them.

Really chucking it down here. Not one flash of lightning though.

Not to the Met Office it doesn't, they've got warnings out for the whole of S England and E Anglia. I've not seen anywhere that it would be a boring Kent clipper situation, if you have can you post info please?

Looks to me as if this is going to end up primarily as an East-Kent clipper .... Here in Rochester, I might get lucky and get some of the western edge of it I suppose. Rain, some of it heavy, much more widespread, of course.

Well the Kent clipper outcome was correct, bar a few strikes further west along coastal areas. Though just had a big flash of lightning and thunder here.

A very slight northward movement but negligible. At this rate if anything arrives it will be about 6am, what's the point of daytime lightning?

You're so right. I have just experienced the best lightning show ever. And its still rumbling on. I only moved down here in August last year and I'm so glad I did. I've had frosts, snow and got the brunt of storm Angus that took my gazebo away. All I needed and wanted was a storm and I couldn't have asked for more. Very happy :D

Storm line seems to be slightly South of the VV chart - ie upward vertical motion, giving at nice pep up after it's channel crossing.

Wind has suddenly gone a bit mad here, pouring down but still that one flash of lightning. Kent coast looks pretty wild though!

Bulk of the strikes now in the Dover Straits heading out up into the North Sea ...

Why are we not surprised?

Anywhere from St-Leonards round to Thanet looks ideal for tonights viewing, I reckon. I can hear the rumbling, but it's very distant flashes. I might have detected a veer slightly to the North,  but it is late....
