Meteo France showing lightening in their forecast just across the Channel. And their rainfall radar showing the extent of the rain moving north. The Realtime lightning map showing activity south of Paris and moving north. So the big question - will the conditions later on this evening support storm activity making it here?

Great melon farming weather

My seedlings are very slow with all the cloud we've had in May. Very glad of the rain but need more sun too.

Even the France Meteo have things too far east if you ask me. Raining as far west as Salisbury now and almost as far north as Leicester, showers moving in towards Gloucs too.

Well after all this rain all we need now is for things to warm up a bit, first sign of something better on the horizon from UKMO 12z. Hope this isn't wrong!:D

(BTW, GFS is horrible, we wanted that in January!)

Yes, some warmth would definitely be welcome. Don't mind the rain, as long as we get warm sunshine too. Unfortunately, since 2007 it seems, the weather tends to get stuck in long very dry or very wet periods. I wonder what happened to our changeable weather, where we might get some frontal rainfall once a week, a few showers/storms with ridges giving fine weather in between?

Indeed.

Might be a few storms in the far east of the region later if this is right.:)

Had some lovely heavy rain here for the past hour. Past time really as yesterday's totals were a little disappointing this far East.

Well the track of the lightning as it moves north suggests you might be right snowray, with any chance certainly looking restricted to the far east of the Region. If I was Pete in Beccles I wouldn't be raising my hopes too much - it looks more likely to do its normal trick of slipping past us out in the North Sea.

Looking at Sat24 and Blitzortung, I'm still not prepared to rule out the schwiftyest of Kent clippers in an hour or two. I think we lack the low level warmth and the freshest lightning seems to be on the eastern extremes of the system, but I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to thunderstorms. Usually end up dissapointed though haha!

Any takers? Please just shoot me down!

Just been looking at a few of the high res models, going to be a close call, may stay out at sea or clip the eastern coastal areas 50/50.

The rain was much needed down here but blimey, almost 6 hours non stop and feeling decidedly chilly at 11c.
