Well I want the coldest May on record so I'll go for 15C in the hope that I'm catastrophically wrong.

Years with at least one mean daily CET of 19.0 or higher 24-31 May, and what happened in those summers, plus three that came close to qualifying (1784 had two days above 18, 2012 had several, and 2003

I sense cooler than average 10.9C please

Stubborn northern blocking persistent E/NE winds, warmer in the west, turning much warmer as these +ve heights eventually sink S and we pick up a southerly draw.

Its got to be above average, isnt it always these days.
Given up going for below average. lol...

So lets for 12.9c seeing as might have steady east winds which inland will be warmer than here.
Think here may well be below average.

Will go with 11.6 degrees, a little above average. Looks like a near average start. Expecting a rather uneventful month, a generally quiet atlantic, dry for most, but dissapointingly cloudy which will make for a rather dull month, with nagging easterly breezes at times. Perhaps a warmer wetter end.

Whilst the models are showing a cool period ahead, given how they have continuously downgraded any colder spells since November I'm going for a rather conservative 11.6C for May. However, it would be typical that colder spells actually come off during late spring and summer!
