Morning everyone! We don't post very often (I aim to change that this year) but the Hastings webcam may be about to give us a show. Nothing here in Marlow at the moment but we should have some reports tomorrow and / or Monday.

I can confirm that we recently had a brief elevated thunderstorm in the Hastings/St Leonards-on-Sea area. Only lasted about 20 minutes but produced some vivid lightning and deep rumbles, first one of the year here.

Light rain here just now. Turning moderate.

Hmmm, actually heard some thunder and looks like it's going to lash as pitch black to the south!

Well what a night! The lightning was intense! Does  anyone have an accumulated lighting map from the past 24 hours?

Three long rumbles of thunder from almost nowhere! No lightning seen yet though

an utter fail from the NW-NMM hi res model.....I have never seen it so wrong......the 18z run last night was utterly wrong within an hour of it being released, and the overnight 00z is even more inaccurate in that it showed no thunderstorm or rain activity anywhere on the mainland......I wonder why it's got it so badly wrong? i' m assuming a drunk data entry clerk....lol

Just had some amazing CTC and CG strikes here in Ashford, my dad had to wake me up to tell me and straight away I got up, opened my blinds to just see this wall of water in my garden and within a few seconds I heard rumbles and then a CTC lightning strike came out of the cloud.

It was a great way to be woken up :D

things like last night are really hard to predict, I didn't think myself that it would be that bad, but at least it has cleared the air lol

Nice little cell this one. Reasonably frequent rumbles

that's the thing though, every other model output had thunderstorms breaking out quite widely as did every forecast agency, NMM doesn't even show any rain!

Similar to July 18th 2014 too. Some places got pasted and there was no mention or forecast whatsoever that suggested they would. Places like Luton and the Home Counties.

Well Croydon, where i actually live, got completely missed. I slept through any rumbles this morning. I've got a night turn tomorrow which means a late Saturday night.

Quite prepared to drive out tonight if anything produces overnight, plus no bank holiday traffic!

Thats the problem with this weekend - the motorways are going to be packed.
