Vizzy, not good around here tomorrow, it's Radio 1's Big Weekend and the place is chockers plus tight security after Manchester. I would try and keep South, the traffic has been bad here this evening....

Will probably stay away from 1079 and keep North in the Wolds where the roads are quiet.

yep, met monkey were pretty good from what I remember.....Keithy Joe occasionally used to post on here, and mapantz, weren't you quote prominent on there?

There's a few of us on here who were with Met Monkey from the start, I think Mapantz and I clocked up many thousands of posts between us!

Looking forward to the next couple of days, didn't scrape a decent storm here at all last year. First summer that we haven't had one that I can ever remember!

Yes, just spoken to my sister who lives in Brixham, they just had the dogs out for a walk at Berry Head and can see distant lightning off to the se

Festival is in Burton Constable, East of Bev. If you stay off the 1079 and keep West and North of Bev you should be alright. Maybe also avoid the A614 from Howden to Brid - beach traffic;  it can get really snarled up.

One part of me wants it to stay dry for the festival, the other is looking forward to a good storm or two.....

We'll see...

Muff

NW of Guernsey looking tasty but strike has just appeared E of Salcombe. A rogue or a sign something is getting going near the Devon coast?

Yep, distant flashes can be seen from Kingsbridge area! Approx every 5-6 seconds, not sure if we will get any overhead action but it's definitely moving its way towards the Devon coast...

Yes, I'm a few miles inland near Sidmouth and have been seeing distant and often frequent flashes to the south for a while now! Gradually getting closer.

can make out bits of the cell/CB being lit up though there's some mid level cloud preventing a clear view of the whole cell.

There also appears to be another cell slowly making its way up Biscay too. It's not the strongest though, so not sure how far it will get

It's intensifying! There just a few minutes ago it was looking about 4-5 flashes a minute,. 20 is a lot ! :)

Bearing in mind that the lightning detectors don't pick up IC or CC lightning, that's a fair amount of CG lightning for a cell that size!

If you set off now,you should just about get there in time:D
