Ok guys we are currently heading east on the A27 near Chichester continuing towards Brighton. We've seen lots of flashes and it's currently tipping down!

These storms are horrible to watch for me, as I live in Chichester and would be prime location to chase. However I am currently in Barnstaple on holiday, a hundred miles away from the action! Shame I wasn't here Friday night!

Enjoy Fellow southerns, this really is a beaut of a storm!

I feel your pain. I was heading south towards Woking yesterday afternoon for a landmark family do when it all kicked off on the Penines

It is still unclear whether West London will get anything.

Hope so (from Slough)

Surprised you can't hear anything yet! A few distant rumbles here...maybe it's the elevation that allows the sound to reach here?

Just starting to get distant rumbles. Lightening really picking up. Seriously considering taking a walk over to the beach...

That's on a SFD departure from 08R at LGW. It then joins the airway either from BOGNA or SFD to UL612.  From my knowledge the routing it's took clearly avoids the convection.  I'm not ATPL yet but in my current job, I'm told just avoid the red radar returns and hope behind the yellows and greens isn't a bigger red blob alais Air France 447. So the Flight crew tell me..

I just went out for a smoke, and no kidding - a huge +CG maybe 2 miles from here. I saw the bolt shoot straight down, and a massive gunshot of thunder!
