Ah this is looking west so does that mean this lot is electric too just not showing up on the lighting maps?

According to the lightning detector there was a lightning strike directly off the coast of worthing.

Didn't see it (lights on)

Didn't hear thunder either.

I'm watching constant lightning from East Preston.

In Bournemouth but itching to get in the car.  Probably wouldn't want to go any further than Portdown Hill, behind Portsmouth.

My worry is this will still be too far west.  May stay put.

Any thoughts?

I'm at mudeford quay, you can see lightning out to sea, but it's got that orange look to it, it still feel like there is a storm to be had, but I don't feel that confident.

I would find somewhere on the A33 to park up, so you can be ready to go down the M27.

Popping up to 420/min just now! However, it looks like the bulk of that is the mess creeping out slowly ENE over Brittany, so how much in the way of an actual import flow are we going to get?

Actually scratch that - just run through a smoother radar sequence on the laptop and it's some leftward propagation of the most intense returns relative to the NE'ward storm motion.

I have to say, based on Met Office warnings I expected a more sporadic nature to the rain away from that big storm, as opposed to a mass of the dreaded 'thundery rain'. A load of rain but minimal lightning was the worst case scenario for me as I'd rather keep the ground dry for hiking tomorrow. At least some electrical fun would soften the blow :pardon:

Can see the occasional flash and hear deep rumbles here...

Think that's the best we're gonna do here!

Currently in Bognor, looking south over the Channel. Peach lightning.  Lots of bugs started flying about. Nature has senses right?
