If this is guaranteed to hit the south-east big, I feel tempted to get in the car and hit the M25 south and then whatever A road takes me down into East Sussex/Kent.....I'm sceptical we're going to see any lightning west of London....

Might be about to head out to seaford to get into a nice spot.

I only chase from wherever I am now -normally at home

I used to chase in the car - to get back home and find the kids and wife say "oh an amazing storm we had ...."

sometimes staying put - you win some you lose some but in general you do OK and its much safer :)

Is my area Wiltshire in south and west going any thunderstorm to night and I hope get hear thunder and see  in my back granden

Seems unlikely now unless nocturnal cooling can aid the mess in the western channel.

As we're both in Walsall, what are your expectations for overnight in our area?

Game over bar the odd flash for everyonewest of Pompey I'm afraid. Outflow killing everything to the northern west of the main MCS.

unlikely I think......the afternoon outputs seem to be more right than wrong......earlier I thought a line west of weymouth to swindon would be unlikely to see storms (rain yes)....I'l take a wild stab now and move that line at least 100 miles further east.....brighton to london......The western flank of the MCS is rain cooled and there's not enough instability along the north and western outflow boundaries.....some heavy rain is likely but that may be it............be nice to be proved wrong though as I missed out on friday night
