Do have a bit of an on and off headache tonight, can sometimes mean storms. Not ruling it out completely just yet...

So much for an early night. I have radar and lightning detector tabs open all over the place - Absolutely love plume situations like this!

I've got 15 tabs open mostly weather related or webcams.

I'm now starting to pick up lightning strikes at 24 - 40 miles.

Not sure why. Nearest activity is over 60miles outside.

Well, it's moving this way, albiet very slowly. I wonder if it'll reach here before dying out?

Seen a couple of flashes now. This reminds me of July 2014 that epic storm. Probably won't be like that tonight but I'm in the same spot I saw that lurk up towards me. It was awesome. Loved the purple lightning at the start - it's always my favourite bit !

Certainly feels as if the warmer more humid air is starting to encroach here. Can see clouds starting to gather to my S and SW - hoping to see some flashes soon and then get my camera on standby

I thought the forecast said storms would develop over the channel and head towards us. As far as I can see these all broke over land?

If this is guaranteed to hit the south-east big, I feel tempted to get in the car and hit the M25 south and then whatever A road takes me down into East Sussex/Kent.....I'm sceptical we're going to see any lightning west of London....

I read a few posts earlier saying that lot over France wouldn't make it here and new storms would build up over the channel.

Mother Nature has got 57 minutes (til 11pm) to look as if something might happen here or I'm calling it a bust and going to bed lol

Then the storms will roll in..

Wish I drove I'd be heading straight down south. The storm seems to be heading more NNE again I think??

That stuff in France is bonkers, but I'm already a bit concerned that it looks to be tracking too far east of here. Need some more storms to fire further west of it I think.

This is my thinking. I would be peeing myself in excitement if I was in Brighton right now!
