Just watched a big storm move across the Lake District. Couldn't see much lightning but thunder was constant. Rain just started here and can hear thunder....

apart from that line of storms further north the radar is very quiet over most of England. Almost 3pm now so should be peak time. Mostly dissapointing so far?

No for me expected. Cloud cover with the sun trying to push thru.

Been like it since the front went past, the cloud will break and re-form again.

Sadly for me this is turning into another bust. :sorry:

All we've got is a very, very strong and gusty wind.

Everything is all kicking off to the North and East of me over the Pennines.

But good luck to everyone else who's still in with a chance today. :good:

Fresher air moving in from the west. All eyes Sunday and again we are out of the firing line.

Not a sausage here today, not even any rain. Feeling much fresher out though, has been overcast for much of the day, very gusty.

Managed to mow the lawn!

Shower developed overhead but moved North before anything fell out of it and is now producing sferics North of here. Looks quiet to the south and east so will probably remain dry now. Good news for the pop festival a few miles to he east of here. Katy Perry anyone?

I've got dashcam footage driving through the storm when it was just south of Leeds and it was scary! Down to a crawl on the motorway, some biggish hail bouncing off the car too! Lots of lightning but can't really see it on the vid cos of the rain!

Something has just developed over the Humber and is coming this way - well maybe slightly to the west, but it is growing....

Going out to take a quick gander.

Managed to capture some shotgun thunder from this morning's storm. It seemed to be really close by but bizarrely had a 9/10 second delay from lightning to thunder. Still quite a jump scare :).

All happening 20 mile east of me ,under blue sky though sky is black to my east .

Yes we are in a central firing line at present, perhaps something to do with the extra uplift caused by crossing modest higher ground... currently very dark, big thunder claps and lightning and heavy rain, expecting a sudden clearance after 4pm, and the sun to come back out, along with everybody else who is currently sheltering inside, or behind a tree etc.. not a day to be out on the high fells and ridges - hope people took some caution.. but suspect many will have been caught out, namely it being a Saturday and a bank holiday etc.. it is having maximum destructive effect in this respect timing wise..

Getting very active around Scarborough now., This was the shower that developed overhead while I was mowing the lawn and moved North.

Enjoy the show - still waiting here. I feel a bit like Pit......

Going to be interesting seeing the Estofex for tomorrow night was a big bonus for the SE last night and should be more in the firing line for tomorrow!

I'm not looking forward to seeing the Estofex update - as looking at the 06z I have a feeling that other than for the West the storms are going to roll through the channel at best :(

haven't had decent imports in the S-East for years
