That was easily the best show I have seen in the last 12 years. Incredible!

+CG's are pretty rare, but when hits at close range, you know the difference between a negative and positive stroke, that's for sure.

The main action here in Bournemouth was 3pm - 4pm - we had almost constant overhead lightning (all intra cloud and very high level) but it was completely dry.  Really, really surreal.  (We did get some rain afterwards as the electrical activity had mostly passed through).

I went to bed at 4pm but at 5pm the house was shaken to its foundations by what was pretty much a rogue strike - I'm certain a +CG.  As you say Cliffy, you sure know about it when it happens!

+CG and +IC - ground rattlers with hint of a motorbike backfiring. Nothing gets you out of bed quicker :D

Patience needed. The low to the West will pivot around, and the occlusion will push North, developing rain and hopefully storms.

Couple of rumbles just now to my southwest... I'm concerned about this little cell stealing all my energy for later!

Ipswich taking a right pounding now. I think it's the storm that passed through here earlier

Not finished yet but will integrate into main site properly over my holiday.

For those who are interested, here is my video of last nights Storm in S Wales ~~ There is also another link taken from the live web cam ,., both videos have their issues,. The main camera couldn't focus due to a lack of lit objects to focus onto.. the Web cam on the other hand while remaining in focus has less FPS and also it was in part the wrong side of the lightning.... needless to say if you can trundle through the last hour of recording you will see some very nice bolts :)

Fabulous sunny and warm start to the morning, while out dog walking before the heat, could see clouds bubbling up, and the odd rumble of thunder. Soon a decent little storm arrived overhead, but not much structure, and not overly photogenic. Very nice CG bolt seen and some other lightning, more thunder though.  Plenty of rumbles, still ongoing, some very deep and bass. Heavy rain, now on the back end of it, blue skies approaching and replacing this now damp grey murk that has followed the storm.

Fully clouded over up here now but only that because of the rememants of this morning's epic storms in some places. Still really warm hopefully that be a trigger as long as the cloud doesn't block things too much

All week, the weather forecasts have been predicting the SE to be mainly dry with the worst storms more north.

Re,this breakdown.

How wrong were they?

Like I said earlier storms appear where they are not supposed to be. Warming up rapidly here should know after midday if the second burst is going to occur and where in the country.

24.0°C now, there must be a hell of a lot of CAPE building up out there.

Front arriving here now; just some elevated stratocumulus on it. Maybe a few light precipitation shafts behind the front end...

Edit: raining now...

Storms in all directions as close as a mile away but nothing overhead, gutted. Is there any chance i will get another shot at some more today or was that it?

Nothing here, save for 2 hours' watching spectacular-looking but almost empty Cbs!:cray:
