Sferics on the radio getting progressively more powerful and still about 1 every 3 seconds. Just 100 miles to go.

Time for bed methinks as clearer skies move in from the south.

It's weird it was coming and then it just died

Amazing dawn colours though as there is a clear slit in front of the storm where it's orange and black

Seems to be striking occasionally in random places

Lovely to be woken up by deep rolling thunder and look out the window to see lots of lightning flickering all around, although it seems to have skirted east and west of here mostly. Sky looked very mean as it was approaching but seems to be dying off now.

Best storm this way for a while... Constant flashes, and deep, rolling thunder, but seemed to die down pretty quickly... I'm still a happy chappy though, hope everyone else enjoyed/is enjoying the storm:yahoo:

Bloody hell...

I thought I was going to wake up to a few storms over the sw,  not the most bloody active storms in Europe

Some of the flash rates where up past 150 per minute at some points! The storm that hit Plymouth around 1 am(ish) was the most violent (lightning wise) I have ever seen in the UK.

Fabulous thunderstorm with great fork lightning and loud thunder. Patio flooded but garden nicely watered, must try and get some sleep now as my getting up for water was a couple of hours ago!

not even close to be honest......the monster storm that hit dorset & wilts last summer or the summer before I remember was hitting well over 300 strikes per minute, and the june 28th 2012 elevated MCS aka El Brumo kicked out 400 sferics per minute at one stage

as for early this morning.....a great flickering display in the distance, but ended up a damp squib once it arrived here.........sorry I sound a bit grumpy, no sleep at all, poorly daughter up all night and I feel like poop :(

Woken about 15 minutes ago to a glorious sunrise in the east, rain overhead and loud deep rumbles from an angry looking sky to the south and west. Looks like the next hour or two could be interesting here.
