A few gusts but as yet nothing extreme. The odd 40mph gust rattling the window but that's all for now

Average wind speeds steadily increasing on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border.

NW Wales bearing the brunt of the storm currently gusts approaching storm force.

Latest gusts

As the low exits the east coast later this afternoon I suspect parts of south Lincolnshire into Cambridgeshire and Norfolk to get some violent gales with gusts perhaps exceeding 80 mph.

Highest gust  so far 41.7 mph but sounds worse. God knows what it will sound like if we hit 80 mph later.

Nothing here as of yet a brief spell of heavy rain which has now ceased almost. Max gust 48mph local forecast downgraded further. Already hit 48 mph so the local forecast is wrong already.

Already the train services between Manchester and Liverpool are being cancelled, no doubt there's more cancellations to come over the next few hours.

Which forecast is that TP, looks pretty windy with gusts to 70+mph on this one?

Updated amber wind warning

Issued at: 08:00 on Thu 23 Feb 2017

Valid from: 08:05 on Thu 23 Feb 2017

Valid to: 20:00 on Thu 23 Feb 2017

This warning has been updated to extend the area southwards a little into the London area. Some very strong winds are expected on Thursday in association with storm Doris with gusts of 60-70 mph likely, and 70-80 mph on coasts and hills. Whilst the strongest winds look to be only short-lived, damage to structures, interruptions to power supplies and widespread disruption to travel networks are likely, with a danger of injury from flying debris. Trees are also likely to be damaged or blown over. Heavy rain is also likely through Thursday as well as some snow over high ground as the system clears eastwards. These may prove additional hazards. The warning has been updated to extend the at-risk area southwards.

There is still some uncertainty about the track of storm Doris, but increasing confidence that there will be widespread disruption across parts of England and Wales.

It's really wild here now, my boyfriend has a tree down in his garden and all I can hear is the trees roaring and the slates rattling on my roof.  I'm out in the sticks so thankfully not too much in the way of wheelie bins etc flying around.  The wind is making pretty wave ripples in the grass though and it's funny watching the birds fly backwards!

Yeah the cross winds must be horrendous, I just hope no lorry drivers chance their arm on it again.  It's happened in the past.
