Yes but predicting an anomalous westerly season in an atmosphere  that moves west to east is hardly an outstanding achievement.

Surely The real test will be when it correctly predicts an anomalous non westerly season.

The clue is, I believe, in the use of the word 'anomalous'?

Not really GC. If you have an atmosphere that moves west to east pretty much all the time anyway then within the range of natural variability in that west east movement you will get stronger /longer very westerly periods.

As  I say for me the acid test is when Glosea and others correctly predicts something far more unusual than being somewhat more strongly westerly than usual in a west to east moving atmosphere
