What does this mean knocker?

This pattern change has knock on affects downstream and both the ext EPS and GEFs anomalies are indicating a weakening of the Atlantic trough and more influence from the Azores high pressure ridging NE, thus a drier and more settled period of weather over the UK. Hopefully.

Unless my memory is playing up it was an Alaskan ridge nudging NE into the Pole that displaced a lobe south initiating the very cold weather in the eastern US two or three weeks ago.

lets share some ideas.....

"The Gulf of Aleutian Cyclone and Scandinavia High is an atmospheric configuration that encourages the troposphere to talk with the stratosphere. It is a state that can push the Stratospheric Polar Vortex off its axis; Both might encourage a split of the Polar Vortex into sisters"  MJV

Way to go

5) Europeans start to complain of a lack of Wintry conditions in February due to an enhanced North Atlantic Jetstream surging Atlantic Maritime air across Europe. :shok:

He hasnt got it wrong so far this winter. Dust off the sledges!

Just need it to arrive earlier in February, rather than later. As the month progresses, the sun really strengthens, so soon melts snow on the ground. Encouraging signs all round though!

Thats what I used to think when we got snow in feb and even march. However Some of the fiercest blizzards and deepest snow have fallen in these months. March 2006 being most notable.
