That chart shows temperatures around average (+/- 0.5’C anomaly). Can’t see why some are getting giddy over that. Average temperatures from this setup would be rubbish.

Yes, bonkers isn't it? 

Are people calling the det a forecast? Are they applying the mean?

Do they know things will fall as per a model run? What about (hopefully not) outliers on the warm side? Or, better yet, colder options?

Not to mention boundary / marginal events with air masses capable of holding more moisture...

Plus big question is this a snap, or a spell (whatever that might be) or something longer?
