We already are having an early spring!  On a more serious note, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that were the case the way this winter has gone!  However, you just never know.  We might get lucky and definitely worth monitoring.

Pretty amazing that a city laying at 60N with an average January high/low of -1.5/-7c can be snowless in mid-winter. We think it's been bad here, but that just takes the biscuit.

Snowless here also for whole january at latitude 59 with -3,5 c as average high

Snow free month in Stockholm month where my daughter lives. Just plenty of wind and rain and hardly a air frost to report. Amazing . Big news over there in the press. Same in Oslo,

Ironically, if Helsinki became drastically colder, there would be the same trend on the chart. Of course that's not happening / going to happen.

Oslo airport is 30min inland from the city centre. It is considerably snowier and colder than Oslo City centre.

I am waiting for the stats but I am pretty sure this January should be somewhere between 1989 and 1990 regarding temperature.

Many areas in the western part of the country broke the January rainfall record. The previous was(guess what..) January 1989!

PS. A lot of you compare this winter with 06-07 and 13-14. Actually these winters although generally mild, they were surprisingly among the snowiest of the last 20 years for here! I can only compare this winter with 88-89 and 89-90 both in terms of mildness and the general atmosphere circulation.

Quess what ? February starting out as January ended. More rain and wind in Stockholm this morning. Temp again well above freezing and 12c this morning in parts of the south. Defo in the worse scenario of mild winters , like dreaded 89/90 in Scandi -land.

To be fair, the long range models consistently predicted a 88/89 type pattern in the run up to winter.
