It does indeed I’ll be having a look at this model now, certainly not the cream of the crop EC unmistakably king. I think the UKMO has been performing poor too probably similar to that ot GEM/GFS or a tad better.

Fascinating to view the 850hPa temp anomalies from the last 20 GFS runs - it highlights how much the forecasts are flipping and flopping!

Well, leaving (recently chaotic!) deterministic models aside, latest monthly output leans to -ve temp anomalies next ca. 2-3 weeks; slow-moving/blocked patterns; marked mobility/zonality considered less probable... *but* NB: blocks can ultimately = mild as well as cold!
