Gritters have NO chance this eve

rain to snow means the rain washes away the grit & when it snows theres not enough time to recover anything other than major roads = Chaos

looking out the window here in Eltham pondering the journey home @615 secretly hoping to get stuck

if not a snow drive to bluebell hill !

Hi Steve

Any chance this may slow down as it moves South East?

Cheers

What are your views on snow to lover levels Steve? Is the PPN heavy enough for snow to settle on extremely wet ground? :)

Huge Wintryness upgrade on the NW radar in the last 10 minutes.

Areas now affected

Cotswolds, Chilterns, West Mids, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Mendips, most of Wales

Def changes here in last half hour. Its sleet and 'trying to snow'

The sun wont of course have much of a influence (going down now)  guess evaporating cooling helps

Still think places further south will get some snow

I have a hill 6 miles away 600ft not sure if its worth a journey

I'm (deliberately) walking home from the City to East Dulwich. Might delay my journey slightly to hopefully make most of the conditions

In your opinion has there been a downgrade or an upgrade in the last couple of hours?

In my area it is now showing some sleet where there was snow.

An upgrade a downgrade a big sulk a party like no one has even seen before. Just about everything, but the overall synposis looks the same as GFS 06z.

For guidance, it looks to me as the Euro4 has got this one (particularly LP depth at this time)

pressure1.gifpressure2.gifpressure3.gif

And the Euro4 is going for ...

accum.gif

... up to 20cms accumulated snow around some places in the SE.

The sun will set about 4:15pm today, temps already getting lower, so sun going down soon will help further I would think.
