My god this weather is utterly discusting!...once the Atlantic gets going there's no stopping it, depression after depression generally moving in from the ssw. No sun, just overcast with drizzle/rain, and just heard the BBC say it's been a dry January - no it hasn't, we've had planty of dry days but when its rained its rained!! 60mm here for January (slightly more than average) and now the mythical February when the Atlantic is meant to 'weaken' looks anything but!! gggrrrrrr!!!!! :(

Am I the only one worried about Fridays and Sundays Storms??

Not worried but keeping a very close eye on developments. If it's looking like 60mph+ gusts at 24hrs out then I'll be worried.

Yes nothing overly nasty, coasts will get some lively gusts but nothing unusual imho.

Yep, which is why I can never understand folk moaning over HP cells sitting over the UK in winter.

Its either Cold dry and boring or Mild wet and boring. I know what I prefer

Only the usual news papers have hyped this one, the met hasn't named it. Not seen anything of concern anywhere apart from articles that gave the impression a named storm was coming. Perhaps people will finally notice certain papers are full of rubbish.

Well the cloud from today's rain is now here, so will probably start soon, the wind is also getting up a bit.

Same here in Benfleet, the day seems to have got gloomier as it's gone on

It's a stonker over here: 12C, mostly sunny with an 18 mph southerly zephyr.

Looking forward to a nice couple of days. Driving up to Southwold to clear out my mother's bungalow, which has been sold so we can continue to chuck in large wads of money into a money pit called a Care Home.

has the beast from the east been killed yet?

Strangely enough, not at the moment. Looks promising for an easterly blast with some models showing -20 uppers! Still way too far out to get excited, personally speaking.

On another note Lassie, have some of these mini watermelon seeds, wondered if you wanted some? They are meant to be quite reliable here especially under glass or cloches, with only short vines. Going to try them this year.

Packet says fruits are up to 25cm or 9 inches across, with vines only 90cm-1m long.
