Grey and mild here in East Sussex it keeps trying to rain, it smells and feels like summer rain. Hopefully the sun will return tomorrow. Good Health.

Well certainly the worst of the days this weekend but I guess it could be worse, just a little bit damp and grey.

Didn't turn out too bad a day, lovely afternoon strolling around folkstone harbour, bit of light rain around 4.30ish,but compared to what the bbc was showing yesterday,it was nothing, itching for some lengthy sunny days and pleasant warmth, desperate to get the hard-top off and the soft-top down

was lovely here today, max temp of 15c again and was warm in the sun which lasted until about 2pm before it became mostly cloudy.

Hoping for a repeat tomorrow, lovely conditions for the start of spring hopefully a sign of the upcoming summer

Morning Folks, Grey start to the day and a slight chill in the air. Couldn't see the top of the Shard on my way in, meaning the cloud is quite low. Hoping it warms up a bit at least even if its not sunny.

Currently 8c, forecast for a max up 15c later on but looks to stay mostly cloudy unfortunately.

Tomorrow is forecasted to be sunnier though so I'm looking forward to some more spring sunshine

Crappy gloom here after an absolutely gorgeous day yesterday. Some clearer air moving down from the NW on satellite pics so fingers crossed that'll get here soon.

After an enjoyable week in the cold, very snowy Alps it's nevertheless lovely to be back in the spring-like UK and making a start on a complete makeover of my front garden. The pesky leylandii hedge has just been chain-sawed down to the ground..... useless things! Mr Leyland has a lot to answer for!! And a fellow Welshman too! :nonono:

Leylandii is a hybrid cross between two conifers that originate from different parts of the United States of America. Plant hunters brought both species of conifer back to Britain and Ireland in the 19th Century. It is often reported that the first cross was discovered by Mr Leyland at Leighton Hall in Wales in 1888.

Sorry for the rant! Back to today and it started grey and 6C earlier, but now some glimpses of sunshine coming through the thin cloud and temp up to 13.6C.

Stayed cloudy all day, starting to break away now temp a lovely 15.8c but starting to drop slightly. Forecast for similar temps tomorrow but clear skies so could reach the lovely height of 16c for the first time this year after several days above 15c the past few weeks

Nooooooooo they are one of the best natrual filters on the planet.

Okay they destroy anything soild within a 70 foot radius and will make the ground around them useless. When I'm next at this prison I do outside work for I'll take a picture of these proper laylandii. Well over 150 foot and the trunks are over a meter in diameter. I'm yet to see bigger ones. Absoultey stunning!!

You're the expert on this one Surrey and I'm sure you're right that they are a wonderful hedge.....  but maybe only in the hands of an expert!

It's just us amateur gardeners seem to have disasters with them. Over-trim and you end up with brown patches.  Cut them back and no new growth appears to cover the ugly gap.

But in fairness to leylandii hedges, they can be rather good fun too :)

^^ Well said @Dami. Me too. And it'll stop me droning on about hedges because I'm bored.
