Well well, here right on the coast we got down to -5.3c which is very impressive.

We never get that cold here.

I think we can say that has been a very impressive cold spell that came out of no where in its strength and longevity, especially as its got a few more days left.

Sort of reminds me being abroad without the snow.
In fact I would rather this than hanging out for snow  which never comes.

Bit galling though that the Spanish beaches and North African hills have had more snow.

Down to - 7 here over night. Still at - 5. Just a shame we haven't had the snow to go with the cold

-4 here with a hard frost and another clear blue sky. Lovely! Bought a big bag of seeds to feed the birds, poor things must be hungry

Bottomed out at -6.6c here about a mile from Southend Airport. Boy not happy as his football match is off. I on the other hand am thrilled I don't have to run the line in this!!

Got to say this cold spell is utterly stunning. Clear frost. Hard permafrost just stunning. Steaming breath at night and morning frost on roads. I may be a sceptic but the Atlantic getting in sorry don't believe it. Completely agree @Surrey it's been amazing so happy. Hoping we extract some snow in Feb as Feb is normally coldest month of winter. Remember 1991 and 2009.......

Absolutely stunning week of weather and some more very wintry weather from now till Thursday at least, some people could have a proper proper hoar frost with any fog that forms and freezers to everything, ice will be a problem too with more moisture in the air to freeze up

.....so much for the mild dross that was being touted about just before the little snowfall we had the other week ;)

In some shaded areas where people had cleared drives, paths or built snowmen patches of Ice still remain!

Limited snowfall thus far but for Winter weather we can't complain too much in the SE.

Also can someone give a slap to a couple of moaners in the model forum, saying this winter crap just like the last four and saying never get any cold. Hello where have you been last week! Some people want blood from a stone.

Very impressive -6.8 here last night . Still -2.8 and now with Freezing fog.. Stunning Winter scenes...I suppose this is the next best thing to snow and we will just have to keep hoping for snow another year..

Also add I have frost on top of frost here 7 days running , my back garden is absolutely thick...plants post with soil in are like concrete..

Some very low temps last night.

-7.1c here at 8.00 am  -8.5c on the grass,  new records for my station :)

Maybe next week new record wind gusts......

This now looks like a 2 week cold spell (as already mentioned this morning), nothing to moan about really because proper snow in our region is as rare as an honest politician....

Coldest night in years here by far, -5.4c was the low still -0.5c now, with frost covering the ground in the shade very thickly still. Finally joined in with the rest of the region with the cold crisp weather after another dull cloudy day yesterday! Another chilly night coming tonight i expect..

edit: second time this year the bird bath has completely frozen all the way down to the bottom!

Great to see another Spurs fan, Luke...:D

After a sharp overnight frost, it's now brilliantly sunny, windless and 3C.

So, Farnborough and Benson both recorded -8 last night. Will it go lower tonight? Would be nice for somewhere to sneak a -10 in before milder conditions return next weekend.
