I see the daily excess is up to its old tricks apparently we are in for a mega Siberian blast in the next two weeks someone should stop these idiots scaremongering .However it would be lovely to see the chaos it would cause .

One day they will get it right - law of averages

But I can only see two ways in which that might happen: either it's after the sun's become a brown dwarf, or because Donald Trump inadvertently puts his finger on the wrong button!:cold-emoji:

Absolutely stunning day here, clear blue skies from dawn to dusk. Temps are now dropping quickly, down to 2.7c.

Temps at 8.00 am here were:

Roof -3.5c

Screen -4.6c

Grass -5.1c    grass stayed below freezing last 24 hours, maybe some permafrost in soil too.

Most of our region has been very lucky with this cold spell, at least we have had some seasonal wintry weather.

Frost is still the poor man's snow:nonono:

Was -5c this morning at 9-00am didn't get higher than 2c all day and now at 5-00am it's already -1c.

It's certainly going to be a cold one tonight.

Indeed it is, but still nice to see it for more than just 1 day.

No snow showing for us in the models but gfs showing a potentially very windy spell starting end of next week, im now on storm watch not snow watch :D

Already -0.3c here, temperature has just dropped 1.9 degrees in a hour.

If this was summer, there still wouldn't any thunder either.

What a beautiful winters day for the weekend!

As with the theme this past week, clear blue skies all day following a hard frost this morning & recording an overnight low of -7.6°C in these parts.Squeezed a huge max temp of 3.2°C after lunch and it's now dropping like a stone out there again, right now it's -4.4°C which is the coldest it has been so early in the evening all week

Brilliant weather conditions right now :good:

Benson already at -5! Maybe the cold spot tonight following Farnborough all week. Some cloud spilling up from the channel might spoil the party though!

Fantastic day here.  It seems like years since I've seen frost persist all day in the shade.  The frost was so thick in places, it looked like snow!

-4.7 in the Canterbury freezer already, much colder than previous nights at this time, got to think that the serious cold of the night time temperatures has cooled the ground to a considerable extent which is probably adding to the cold air flooding in from continental europe..

Weather station just up the road from me in Cuxton is showing - 3 already.

Right at the top of the village and not a bus route but the gritters have been out for the 1st time down this road in years.

Well today was one of those annoying days where cloud rolled in at sunrise and then typically cleared at sunset leaving almost no sunshine for the entire day.

Temperatures widely down to -5C tonight, tomorrow and Monday night look similar before we pick up an increasing southerly wind which will very slowly lift the temperatures.

Only reached a maximum of 1.9 here today and already fallen to -2.4 as at 8pm. Think we could be looking at -4 or -5 widely tonight with favoured spots at -7/-8.:cold:

Hooray I've seen my first icicles for years . Next doors overflow has thawed slightly during the day run along the guttering and freezed . The ground is frozen solid .

I might take the family to Wimbledon common tomorrow  to see if the ponds have frozen over well as my dad always used to take me in winter .

I remember rather foolishly we used to walk across on a number of occasions . He was sure it was ok . Looking back now , maybe not . Good memories though I might take the old man himself.

The infrared satellite image at 17.45 showed a small area of cloud coming onto the south coast at 17.45, moving into the London area at 18.45, but by 19.45 almost completely fizzled out. I wonder if that was the cloud "spilling up" that you mentioned? Anyway, I hope you have a wonderfully frosty night! :)
Down to -3.5C here at 20.15.
(P.S. what's your location? Maybe pop it into your profile.)

It's dropped to -3.8 already.  Looking like my winter low of -5.1 might be beaten tonight!

Yes, that was the area of cloud. It quickly dispersed. At the time of posting, it appeared to be expanding.
