Sunny and cold now. No precipitation of any form that I am aware of today. Still got some of Thursday evening's snow on the grass, which is slowly melting

He posted today lol

He was talking about Sunday mornings chances the other day, maybe things were looking better then though because we had a battleground scenario followed by the Easterly.

What's SSW? Keep seeing it but don't know what it is? Thanks

Sudden Stratospheric Warmings can be great for cold but no guarantee we'd benefit. In this country we need masses of luck! So far this year we've been unlucky, who knows about the second half of winter?

The shallow low responsible for tomorrows rain looks like it will sink south right down the meridian so anywhere east of the M11/M23 could see this event fall entirely as snow. Up to an inch potentially but this is really a nowcasting situation but if you are east of the centre of the low, then the precipitation could fall as snow.

The line I have suggested is only a guide and could move east or west. The metoffice still going with a transient event which turns back to rain. The Arpege and Euro 4 also give a spell of snow for a time tomorrow during the morning and into the early afternoon.

Unfortunately this will probably melt overnight into Monday as we get milder air from the north, though any thaw could be slow. FIngers crossed as this could be it unless we see a movement in the models to another cold shot by the end of the month.

This used to happen quite a lot, giving surprise snow falls and it stayed cold.

Wouldn't take much would it just for once, cant the cold stay.

East Anglia looks like holding onto the cold air for much of tomorrow, maxes of 2 degrees forecast for places like Norwich, so anywhere that sees snow tomorrow morning could hold onto it through the rest of the day, making for lots of snowy fun, but amounts don't look like being much.

Everything slightly further East on Euro4, so Norwich could be the place to be.

Hoping for a possible 'bit of snow' tomorrow but not holding my breath, even though bbc graphics is showing it.

Temp 0.2  DP - 0.8

Lowest windchill today was - 4.9  this morning

Grass temp was - 3  at 6.00 am and now -2.5

No chance of snow here in Hertfordshire tomorrow early morning.

Been raining and sleeting here on and off all day!

East anglia the best bet for any possible snow tomorrow

Snow showers drifting onshore now from the North Sea - some areas on north-east and east Norfolk could see a covering by tomorrow morning.

Hail/Pellet shower here near Gt Yarmouth. Seen some lovely snow falling so far this cold spell.Better than some winters, but still feel we're all hungry for a proper dumping. Can't see that in the next week or so. Still got half of winter to go though.

staying in Hemsby on the East Coast of Norfolk atm. Laying snow still on grass from yesterday and have had sleet and snow showers all day.. since about half hour ago been heavy snowing again just stopped with a light dusting. Looks like a lot more continuing into the late evening.. could have a good cover by morning!

That streamer is moving the showers back onshore around Gt Yarmouth, some really heavy stuff earlier looks to have just missed and stayed out at sea though. Looking good for this evening from the radar.:)

Looks like Norfolk was the place to be for this cold spell which is a pleasant change from the normal. Snow has fallen and settled two days in a row here and apparently the same back at home in Hunstanton in north-west Norfolk!

18z shows a resurgent easterly flow @96

Ifd your model watching look at the theta E chart & dewpoint chart

10c on Theta E & sub -5c dewpoints = the coldest weather type you can 'feel' in kent.

IMG_1687.PNGIMG_1688.PNG

look at the surface max & the evening wind chill

IMG_1690.PNGIMG_1689.PNG

also back edge snow @96- keep an eye on it...

Last few runs seem to have back tracked slightly towards the prediction of 72hours ago. Do you think we may see these small upgrades over the next 24 to 48 hours?

Theres not much more room to wiggle as theres no low pressure in europe but the 18z is about the best we get

whats good though at 120-144 is the heights drop away to the SE & the slack flow gets colder- meanwhile the atlantic has gone Awol..

As before it varifies it will be the coldest 7 days for 7 years...
