There's a bloody good chance fOr something special as we go into next week, be lovely to get a proper easterly in, this could just be the warm up for the main event!

So next week still isn't nailed?

I'm delighted to see the warm temps of North Eastern America, certainly will help to keep the Atlantic beast quiet :good:

Next week looks tough to predict to be honest, there are two options.

1) Presented by the UKMO and GEM is that we see heights build over the UK with a front trapped underneath, so cool and cloudy with a few spots of light rain, there could be clearer breaks to allow night time frosts in places. Not the solution people want.

2) Shown by the ECM and GFS, we see pressure build over northern Europe with a continental feed into the region. This will bring an increasing chill with temperatures falling day by day. By the second half of the week pressure cold begin to fall over us and France, the uncertainty here is that cold pools could develop in situ and move northwards towards us and these could bring the risk of snow.

Beyond that there is the signal for the pattern to retrograde but at this point any solutions shown are for our own personal amusement rather than anything else.

Nothing is nailed until t24 if that.. Too many people talking nonsense,, nothing but dry chilly boring high pressure over us next week. Stick to met office, not rampers on this forum thinking they can predict the weather when they can't, getting peoples hopes up for no reason. Same every year.

Funny you say that because look at another of your posts from yesterday, so from what you've just post doesn't seem to make much sense does it?...

Well,, the one place the met predicted snow (Norfolk & Suffolk), yet again, is about the only place that didn't get any.. Surprise surprise, every time. Same old story like the past 30 years. Yawn.

Eyes are on the coastline until the morning me thinks.. not looking good for some areas, theres a few heavily populated areas at risk which is troubling. Luckily here its only about 5 shops down at the seafront at risk of damage but it shouldnt be too bad like in 2013 around my way.

8 days out? does likelihood of models forecasting cold improve, when its cold already or is it same regardless?

The general theme of heights retrogressing into the atlantic & slack winds running ESE is a 'theme' of the day 6-9 models- I was just highlighting the possibility of what may happen..

Yes nice to see falling snow. Some areas in our region had a nice covering too. Should quieten down those writing off the rest of winter last week! Plenty of winter left to go, we're just at the midpoint now. Some grotty damp days to get through before hopefully a better effort at cold next week.

:cray: Still plenty of Winter left though :)

On another note, 'The Weather Channel' has me under snow showers from tomorrow morning between 6 and 8, anyone know what feature this is coming from, I didn't think we were due any tomorrow?? I've found their forecasts pretty accurate of late.

Not sure Ben but BBC are giving 10c for sunday.

Was hoping that the cold would stay put over in this corner and somewhat surprised it will reach 10c.

BBC going for 6C for your location, and a maximum of 8C in the centre of London according to the latest news channel forecast. Not overly cold granted, but not particularly mild either :)

12z GFS going for some leading edge snow on Sun morning, before turning to a bucket load of rain for the rest of the day. After that, it looks like a chilly boring UK high parked over us for the rest of next week. Not great, but at least it should be mainly dry with risk of frost/fog at times. Zero snow prospects next week though after Sunday mornings potentially brief affair. Attentions turn to the last week of Jan now. The Atlantic looks very blocked I must say. We just need a bit of luck to retrogress in a favourable area.
