Wow just got in from work. Drove from Cuckfield to horsham and it turned from heavy rain to heavy laying snow in the space of about 5 minutes!

So we had around an hour of heavy snow and have a covering on the ground in Surbiton,  but it's stopped now.

Do we think it's going to snow again this evening?

Heavy snow Sittingbourne - Settling on ALL surfaces, so much for "snow can't set on wet ground" this is incredible, way more then expected, 1-2cm on cars and roads.

Same out here mate.....awesome

Last snowed here in 2013 if I remember but not very much.

Last big snow was in 2010 when the beach was even covered in snow and lasted for 7 days !

OMG ! That would be amazing to see. Thanks Whitespike :)

I'm amazed at how quickly it went from rain to snow. Within 5 minutes my wind screen went from all rain to rain/sleet then full on snow. Settling nicely but kids outside ruining the pristine whiteness:D

8- 20p flakes going at a steady pace now- accumulating around 0.5cm - 1cm per hour

^^ About an 8 on the Murr scale here right now, everything white outside :)

It is moving very quickly.  This is the bit where you follow the radar and look for little bits of orange that could possibly be coming our way to follow!  Clutching at straws though

Stopped here a little now, i am just wondering if as the winds turn more northerly the precipitation towards Cambridge will head this and intensify as METO still showing heavy snow until pm.

Looking at radar Herts beds and bucks will be done with the ppn in less than an hour.

A real shame the front is pulling away to the SE so quickly.

Although eastern areas look set to see ppn at least until 8-9pm

very happy with the result here in mid Herts. 2cm covering. Everything white and after all that rain earlier!

Hopefully this will shut the traps of folk that felt the need to bark that snow can't settle after hours of rain!

Seems the raintoday radar is rather overdoing the extent of the precip. All these places around London reporting the snow has stopped and yet the radar still shows moderate precipitation.

Well,, the one place the met predicted snow (Norfolk & Suffolk), yet again,  is about the only place that didn't get any.. Surprise surprise, every time. Same old story like the past 30 years. Yawn.
