Never seen this southeast thread so busy.. 119 recent browsing! Jesus Christ, that's a lot of disappointed people if nothing pulls off by tomorrow

I used to live in Somerset so don't talk to me about disappointment!

Apart from maybe 1982, 1984 and 2009 :D

DP has risen slightly, to 3.9, though temperature is 4.4C.

On old rule of thumb is that if you add temp+dp and it's less than 7degC then that gives approx 10% chance of snow. Then you add 10% chance for each degree you subtract from the total. Worked alright for me up the hills when I was a young man. So, at a total of 3degC gives a 50/50 probability of snow/rain.

That's what three years (for most of us) of snow starvation does to us! The first slushy mess that's forecast sends everyone into a frenzy!  You've got to laugh really. Seriously though,  I hope everyone gets lucky tonight, we've been patient so long, we deserve this, we NEED it!

Temp and DP holding at around 2.3 and 1.5 respectively (Ampthill weather station)
I get the impression that Milton Keynes and Bedford are right on the cusp for getting snow. If we're going to see anything then it will be from around 17:00 onwards.
