Mine's just started to show more of a northerly. (link below) Temps,DP and pressure dropping and rain increasing.. Hopefully after 5pm will see some of the white stuff falling past the lamppost :pardon:

Staff have started putting grit on the paths around my local Waitrose in Raynes Park.  Do they know something we don't?

Raining still / 5.5C.

Stansted airport current + forcast. These are normally pretty good.

So yes to snow albeit unlikely to be heavy snow, but they are saying that the event will finish sometime between 7pm & 10pm. I guess we new that anyway. Next TAF is due out soon so the update will be interesting.

was almost sleet an hour or so ago here in the Cambridge highlands, super soggy though but does seem to be getting colder, the cat is now stationed firmly by the fire.

yes i am i worked at LHR in a senior role at the time - it was costly both to reputation and profits - but it never was teetering on bankruptcy they had literally billions in positive cash balances - i don't think the trainers on a course about shovelling snow really know or understand what they are talking about in relation to the financial viability of LHR.

Well like I said, that's just what we were told and the reason given for Heathrow having now hired thousands of snow clearance operatives on standby and having invested in snow ploughs and other clearance equipment. Of course, us stupid manual labourers wouldn't have a clue about the mysterious workings of senior level Gods.

That's what finally kicked Mr Schafernacker into saying we WERE going to get some proper snow in Kent tonight after all :-D He's been looking like he's having a nervous breakdown all afternoon, now he can see that it IS going to snow down South! :-D

Temp hovering around 4c here in St Albans, Herts.

Pouring rain and very dark.

Reports coming in now of rain turning to snow around Birmingham even in the city centre.

One hopes the ppn gains intensity as it leaves the West Midlands and pulsates NE across our region before quickly pulling away SE.

Def changes here in last half hour. Its sleet and 'trying to snow'

The sun wont of course have much of a influence (going down now)  guess evaporating cooling helps

Still think places further south will get some snow

To confirm from a personal perspective it is indeed sleeting here in Bristol. I think the SE are in a fantastic position for snow, with evening approaching, colder air undercutting quickly and readily turning to sleet and snow across SW, West Midlands and South Wales, all the best!

Plus the front has a long way to go before reaching the SE could be in time for rush hour!

I agree. MetO app on phone has consistently pointed to at least two hours heavy snow for Rochester with start time varying between 6pm and 7pm
