"Too cold to snow" seems to me to be indicative that normally when the UK gets very cold it is usually under high pressure, hence little precipitation.

And from people's lack of an understanding about what causes snow.

So many people saying snow won't lie after rain... the deepest snow I remember started as a heavy rain to snow event back in the seventies, and we all watched in amazement as the puddles quickly turned to slush , and then went white! ;-)

I remember this happening around 1991.I was about 14-15. Went into a friends house, was bucketing down with rain..walked out 2 hours later to a whiteout! A complete WT fudge moment :)

Too cold to snow, lol. As if THAT is the problem we are facing right now.

It's been a while since we've had weather this depressing. It's chilly and wet and dark. Yuk, the second worst combination I can think off. The worst being cold and wet.

I know! Drives me mad! It's like the 'it's too cold to snow' comment! Of course snow can settle on wet surfaces! Just need to be cold enough!

Too cold to snow - that will be when we had the wrong type of snow then :D

-8C in Guildford and no trains

latest radar , still as before moving through more quickly , heaviest precipitation band in the channel , should see wintry mix by 16.30 , settling snow hard to judge but low levels not expecting much

Not sure how accurate RainToday Premium is but their radar shows huge blobs of snow over the Chilterns, MK, Luton and Bedford forming between 1630-1730. Also another blob of snow just South West of Guilford.

Wrong or not thats a piece of weather porn right there. I am easily pleased

come on guys, can't we just have a bit of optimism! It's a bit gloomy in here ATM! The cold air isn't even here yet! We can all moan later IF it doesn't happen!

Like I said, not sure of it's accuracy as I've never used the premium version before (Am I allowed to even talk about it on here?) but it shows Bedford (More to the South and West) turning into Snow. Fingers crossed for you!

Latest from A window watcher here// Going outside my house;)

Clouds are currently changing course, Low cloud still heading east but high cloud now starting to move to a southerly direction.
The wind has also changed direction ever so slighlty.
Is this the change we have been waiting for?

yes i am i worked at LHR in a senior role at the time - it was costly both to reputation and profits - but it never was teetering on bankruptcy they had literally billions in positive cash balances - i don't think the trainers on a course about shovelling snow really know or understand what they are talking about in relation to the financial viability of LHR.
