Hi everyone, long time lurker who's got excited enough by the current prospects to come out of the closet and join the community.

5.5 degrees here, down from 6.5 at mid day.

An obsession is only weird if you're on the outside looking in!

Looking forward to later

I think this is going to be a huge flop, by the time the rain turns to snow, there will literally only be 2 hours of snow on soaking wet ground, it's not going to settle:oops:BBC:oops:Met office:oops:

That's not a dig, it's aimed at nobody. Who knows.. That's the best thing about generalising

That is just sophistry! (NB I'm not moralising because I think if someone is being stupid it deserves to be pointed out). But I'll say no more.

Hi All, not been on here for a coupla years due to poor winters, but this one looks like it MIGHT be interesting? :-

BBC News TV weather @ 14:00 showing all snow cleared Kent and in France by 18:00

However BBC Online has just updated and now shows 2 hours of Heavy snow and reduced temperature (Zero) for Canterbury from 20:00 to 22:00!

They really are just stabbing in the dark :-D LOL

Only a flop if you listened to the rampers, Met Office always went for a very cautious approach. Heathrow though, I suspect a big flop for them if the snow doesn't come off.

Have to say still feeling optimistic, the rain is here & the cold is coming. Temps are already dropping with dew points heading towards 0 west of us. No I won't be wadding through snow but at no point did I expect to be, just to see it coming down will do for now.

Shortly off for a wonder on the top of a local 280m hill & see whats brewing.

I think those in charge of Heathrow are paranoid after the 2010 debacle when the airport was hours from going bankrupt!

Really? I didn't know about the near bankruptcy. Learn something every day. What happened exactly, I remember reading about the closure but not the financial side.
