Lol, they just said 10c that's mild. Very strange, perhaps if you put out lots of forecasts they will get one correct.

Those temps surprised me clearly not buying easterly. Granted the easterly looks dry but would have thought maximums around 3 to 4c on sunday away from built up areas. If there was snow around possibly lower than that.

Easterly not due until Tuesday onwards....

It looked like parts of Brighton were gritted first thing this morning.  Madness.

Yes BBC lunchtime forecasts reducing the snow band and keep using the phrase "on back edge" as it pushes through.

I presume this will now be back edge stuff as come 5pm the ppn moves south east at a real pace.

Tomorrow at 7am looks like a better chance of snow tbh if very brief!

Temps mild by Sunday up to 9c or 10c ...

Yes but max temps by the models show the current cold not being shifted away as quick as originally thought. Maxes of 3 and 4c

I thought we were looking at the real cold air not arriving until Wednesday afternoon though.  Cooler on Tuesday is a start.

I am pretty sure in recent years the same thing happens before all marginal events. The media forecasts literally cover all options. That way they have every eventuality covered.

That is not a dig at the BBC or indeed similar, it is just a summary. Let's face it, over past few hours we have had BBC say plenty of snow, to just some snow on back edge.

Everyone who keeps going on about Heathrow cancling flights, this is pretty standard, they have the whole evening packed with flights due in & out, their visibility is going to be massivly reduced even in sleet, the runway will likely see some snow that will need clearing, it will also need gritting & de-icing which all means they can't land/take off the normal amount of planes in the given time slot. It's pretty irrelevant if the snow is heavy or lays, even a little bit will cancle some flights as they have so much more to do. Give them a break, they are taking the right steps so far.

@BLAST FROM THE PAST just saw where you got the latest from. BBC website weather map shows back edge snow forming by 15:00 and then by 18:00 mostly snow and about to clear London, with precipitation over East Anglia and Kent, then all gone at 21:00.

Sadly with the sheer quantity of rain falling and continuing I doubt very much many areas will have anything lay.

be nice to see it fall though for the first time in a long while, next weeks easterly is still on the cards as well. Lots of positives, always sad when we don't get anything settle though!
