Ah an Eastbourian. I once told my hubby it doesn't snow in Eastbourne and we had about 6inches.

Shame no snow for beddy at 3pm so bubs and I could walk home in some wintry stuffs.

Yes its a rare animal, 2010 was the last time I think!

And for the record the Temp has just dropped 0.1 to 7.3

Living slap bang on the south coast the best we can expect here is sleet.

Looks good north of the hills though!

Temp 6.4C, down 1.2 since 8.30 this morning

The HI res HILRAM model appears to have called the track right on its 6z and gives us almost zero snow for the entire region, make of that what you will!

whether it's reliable or not who knkws

Seems pretty accurate with the track so far. My opinion is still that the areas South and East of London will do best.

Temps are staring to fall T: 5.9C it's really coming down...

2/3 hours of heavy snowfall according to the app for this snow starved 'inner' part of London. I expect pandemonium. Extending to 2000 so fun times ahead!

"be prepared for snow rather than expect snow"

Only a few hours out and the professionals still can't call it...

We had snow when I was living in Southampton during 2011. I was on a night out with just a tshirt on and had to walk back a few miles.

Watching the movement and rotation of the heaviest ppn as it enters the English Channel it certainly looks like it's taking a NE(ish) track to bring it into the SE.

The heaviest certainly hasn't got here yet, but it's belting it down outside at the mo mind.

Still think it'll be a rocky ride.

Also for anyone who live in London and can see the shard its a good indication of where the snow line is as it usually fades out where the snow is falling.

Absolutely chucking it down in Central London and really quite cold in the rain.

I think we are in with a good shot later, even now you get a sense that evaporative cooling is already initiating.

Yes 2010 was the last time.  I will be making the journey home between Portslade and Eastbourne this evening via the A27.  This takes me up over the downs so should start to get an idea of how things are looking as move away from the coast and higher briefly.

Those temps surprised me clearly not buying easterly. Granted the easterly looks dry but would have thought maximums around 3 to 4c on sunday away from built up areas. If there was snow around possibly lower than that.

Severe weather for Farnborough, HAM — via Weather Underground (http://www.wunderground.com/download/index.asp#ios).

----------------

Rain moving eastwards across the south of the UK today may turn to snow in places. The most likely scenario is for 2 to 4 cm to fall above about 100 m elevation across parts of southeast England with 1 to 2 cm to low levels in places. However, there remains a small chance of snow settling more widely with 5 to 10 cm at low levels this evening, leading to disruption to road, rail and air services as well as interruptions to power supplies and other utilities - this more likely across East Anglia and southeast England. Across Wales and western England snow will more likely be confined to high ground.Associated heavy rain and strong winds may prove additional hazards. As skies clear this evening and tonight there is also potential for widespread ice to form quite rapidly on untreated surfaces. This is an update to add more details of possible snow amounts; also to delay the start time a little.>
