Your all taking to much notice of these weather apps. They are next to useless and not meant for enthusiasts like us with time better spent on looking at radars and temperature gauges. My own take is

There's quite a rash of showers over Japan, they might make it this far?

SNOWING!!!!

Well it is in my dreams. Temp maxed out here at 4.7, now down to 4.1 and dropping :-) That's nearly 2c colder than forecast/expected and dropping a couple of hours sooner than expected. Small details but it may make al the difference.

Light rain here. Wife has phoned and reported that teachers at my daughters school have been talking to the kids about the snow! :wallbash:

I purposely didn't mention it to my daughter as there is a decent chance of nothing! Could be some disappointed faces but hopefully not!

And the wind is coming from the SE. What's that all about? I thought this was supposed to be west/south west with cold coming from the NW.

Probably but it will be sourced from the sw, you are at the top of the circle so to speak I think Jethro, hence SE

06 Euro 4 brings the low further north than the 00z increasing the snow risk to central southern England.

you can see what a tricky forecast it is with ppn intensity important towards the west once the cold digs in.

the further east you are the better, however still very uncertain.

been a while since ive posted...... i remember several times in the past where these type of scenarios come up, think there was one in 2009 where all struggled to pin down whether it would or not. IIRC they were still even showing forecasts of rain when it was hammering down with snow outside. Ended up with about 4 inches of wet snow cover (was rain to snow event) where i live in Exeter. not sure if the parameters are the same this time but the same outcome would be great! :D

Well it is today or nothing... met office warnings now cover east and west for friday with.. you guessed it a sodding gap over somerset and bristol area :sorry:

In all honesty I am wondering whether we may have more chance from snow showers that develop from the NW tomorrow. Whilst there is still some time to go, I think today's snow will be mainly for the more eastern fringes of the W country and then anywhere E/SE of that. Perhaps also higher ground like the Cotswolds/Exmoor. Down to now-casting anyway but still a little bit of childish excitement in me all the same hoping to see some flakes... fingers crossed! :D
