Winds really picking up here and, of course, it has to be bin day. Like a good neighbour I've chased mine and my immediater neighbours' bin down the street after they were emptied and have lain them flat in our gardens. Unfortunately I can't do this for the whole street!Lots of flying debris already and the worst is yet to come according to the met office

Very gusty here at the moment. A few bricks holding plastic down on the shed roof have blown off and smashed on the paving below.

The strangest thing about Doris down here, is not having any rain, despite the strong wind and  pressure falling to 995hPa. It has been a decent day so far, good spells of sunshine, and the temp up to 11.4°C

We had a bit of rain sometime in the early hours giving 0.6mm but nothing during the day.

Apart from the squall, we've had no rain either. Wind now steady 34mph gusting to 55 mph. My road faces SW and acts like a wind tunnel being a low spot. Unsecured bins flying right, left and centre. Haven't inspected the fence yet.Winds should ease mid afternoon, so will look at the damage after that. Forgot to add pressure's been stable here for a few hours at 988hPa

2.3mm rain from that one line that came through about half six this morning, nothing since except the strong wind.  Two fence panels are wobbling and OH has tied them to a heavy garden pot, probably destroying the buddleia that's planted in it!  Still, cheaper to replace that than the damage a flattened panel or two would make in next door's garden!

Hate this bloody weather, can't stand windy days like this, can't wait for the winds to die down.

Also been checking some of the photos being posted in the Scotland regional thread, jammy sods but then it'll be gone tomorrow anyway.

Can't say I'm a huge fan either. There's blowing cobwebs away and then there's this!

Wind has picked up in last hour to 25mph with regular 35-40mph gusts after a lull of a few hours earlier when the average was 15mph.
Strongest gust was 45mph, but plenty of them close to that.
Lovely bright sunshine, 998.7 hPa, 10.6c

Noticed that Bournemouth Airport has recorded a gust of 60mph at 1:31 with an average wind speed last hour of 35mph

Looking at xcweather it seems the strongest gusts are now in the eastern half of the country. Strongest gust today 40.3mph at 12.30, so hasn't beaten Conor (was it?) here.

Just in from gardening work to find my own garden has taken quite a beating,no structural damage to house but debris about all over.Im not questioning the forecast, but to me its windier now than all day has been, would that be the regional consensus

Went out for a walk not long ago and it's still windy but not as bad as earlier. Lots of branches fallen from the trees but nothing much otherwise.
